ACT 1-The Dream

259 Words
There are dreams that begin quietly. A child writing a profession beside her name on a school assignment. A student watching her teacher write on the board and thinking, Someday, I want to stand there. A college graduate holding a diploma with trembling hands, believing that the hardest part is finally over. And then there are dreams that demand everything from you. Years. Sacrifices. Sleepless nights. Money you don't have. Courage you sometimes lose. Faith you sometimes question. For Elena Marquez, becoming a teacher had always been more than a career choice. It was a promise. A promise to the little girl she used to be. A promise to the mother who had sacrificed quietly so she could keep studying. A promise to the teacher who once looked at a struggling student and saw potential instead of failure. At twenty-one, Lena believed she was finally standing at the doorway of the life she had imagined. She had graduated. She had passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers. She had earned the title she had dreamed of seeing beside her name. Licensed Professional Teacher. Now there was only one thing left. To enter the Department of Education. To have a classroom of her own. To hear a room full of learners call her Ma'am. She thought she knew what awaited her. She thought the hardest part had already happened. She was wrong. Because sometimes, a dream doesn't end when you achieve it. Sometimes, that is when the real story begins. And sometimes, the most important lessons begin... when the bell rings.
