Nora didn’t sleep.
She sat on the floor with her back against the bedroom wall until the sun came up.
The phone never rang again.
But she could still hear it.
In her head.
That same ringing.
That same voice.
Don’t trust the phone.
At 6:41 a.m., Nora finally stood.
Her legs were stiff.
Her eyes burned.
She looked at the mirror.
It was normal again.
Her own reflection stared back at her.
No blood.
No older version of herself.
Just Nora.
She touched the glass.
Cold.
She quickly pulled her hand away.
Then she noticed something on the floor.
A small black object.
Nora bent down.
It was an old mobile phone.
She didn’t recognize it.
The screen was cracked.
There was no SIM card.
Yet the screen was glowing.
1 MISSED CALL
Nora’s stomach tightened.
The number displayed underneath was hers.
She dropped it.
The phone landed face-down.
It began vibrating.
Nora ran out of the bedroom.
She didn’t stop until she reached the kitchen.
She locked the front door.
Then the back door.
Then every window.
Her hands were shaking.
She called her friend, Leah.
It rang twice.
“Nora?”
“Leah, I need you to come over.”
“What happened?”
“Just come.”
There was a pause.
“You sound terrible.”
“I didn’t sleep.”
“Why?”
Nora looked toward the hallway.
“I think someone was in my house.”
Leah became quiet.
“Are you sure?”
“I heard someone outside my bedroom.”
“Did you call the police?”
“No.”
“Nora.”
“I know.”
“I’m coming.”
The call ended.
Nora sat at the kitchen table.
She stared at the old phone lying on the floor.
She didn’t want to touch it.
Then it rang.
Nora jumped.
The sound wasn’t coming from the old phone.
It was coming from upstairs.
Her phone.
She slowly walked toward the stairs.
One step.
Two.
Three.
The ringing became louder.
She reached her bedroom.
Her phone was lying on the bed.
She had left it downstairs.
Nora stopped.
The screen showed:
INCOMING CALL
NORA
Her own number.
She didn’t answer.
The call stopped.
Immediately, a text appeared.
YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED.
Nora whispered:
“Who are you?”
Another message appeared.
LOOK AT THE TIME.
Nora looked.
2:13 a.m.
She blinked.
It was morning.
6:58 a.m.
The phone still said 2:13 a.m.
Then every clock in the house stopped.
The kitchen clock.
The wall clock.
Her watch.
All of them changed to:
2:13
Nora stepped backward.
“No.”
Her phone rang again.
She didn’t answer.
The bedroom door slowly closed by itself.
Nora ran forward and grabbed the handle.
Locked.
She pulled harder.
“Open!”
The ringing stopped.
A voice came from inside the phone.
Not through the speaker.
From the phone itself.
“Nora.”
She froze.
It was her voice.
Her future voice.
“Please listen.”
Nora whispered:
“Where are you?”
A long silence.
Then:
“Seven years.”
Nora’s eyes filled with tears.
“What happens in seven years?”
The voice began trembling.
“You die.”
Nora stopped breathing.
“When?”
“Tonight.”
Nora laughed nervously.
“No.”
“I tried to warn you.”
“This isn’t real.”
“It is.”
“How do I stop it?”
Silence.
Then the voice whispered:
“You can’t.”
The call ended.
The bedroom door unlocked.
Nora slowly opened it.
Leah stood in the hallway.
“Nora?”
Nora screamed.
Leah jumped.
“Jesus! It’s me!”
Nora stared at her.
“Leah…”
“What’s wrong with you?”
Nora ran into her arms.
Leah held her.
“Okay. Okay. I’m here.”
Nora pulled away.
“You need to believe me.”
“About what?”
“The phone.”
Leah looked confused.
Nora showed her the screen.
There were no messages.
No missed calls.
Nothing.
Leah frowned.
“Nora…”
“Look.”
“I am looking.”
“It was just ringing.”
“When?”
“Just now.”
Leah shook her head.
“It hasn’t rung.”
Nora stared at her.
“Yes, it did.”
Leah slowly looked toward the bedroom.
“Maybe you need sleep.”
Nora stepped away.
“No.”
“What?”
“I wasn’t imagining it.”
Leah sighed.
“Then show me.”
Nora picked up the phone.
The screen suddenly changed.
A video appeared.
It was a live recording.
Of Nora and Leah standing in the bedroom.
Nora stared.
“That’s us.”
Leah’s face went pale.
The camera angle was from above them.
From the ceiling.
But there was no camera.
Then the video changed.
It showed the same room.
Seven years later.
The walls were black.
The floor was covered in blood.
Leah was lying dead beside the bed.
Nora was kneeling beside her.
Crying.
Something stood behind Nora.
Tall.
Thin.
Its face was hidden.
Leah whispered:
“What is that?”
The video Nora looked directly at the camera.
Then she whispered:
“Don’t let it learn your voice.”
The screen went black.
Leah grabbed Nora’s arm.
“What the hell does that mean?”
Before Nora could answer—
the phone rang.
This time, both women heard it.
They stared at each other.
The screen showed:
CALLING FROM: HOME
Leah whispered:
“Your house doesn’t have a phone number.”
Nora slowly answered.
Neither of them spoke.
A child’s voice came through.
“Is Nora there?”
Nora’s blood turned cold.
“Who is this?”
The child giggled.
Then whispered:
“She can’t talk right now.”
“Why?”
“Because she’s under the bed.”
Nora looked down.
The space beneath the bed was completely dark.
The child’s voice whispered:
“And she’s very angry.”
The call ended.
Then something underneath the bed whispered in Nora’s own voice:
“Leah…”
Leah stepped backward.
“What?”
Nora stared at the darkness.
Her face went white.
The voice came again.
“Leah…”
But this time it sounded exactly like Nora.
“Come closer.”
And from beneath the bed…
something began crawling out.
