Episode 10

REX

I received a mind link from Liza that two guys were harassing them at the food court. I was already on my way back but I hurried faster across the mall. I found Alina twisting one of the guy’s hands and he was on his knees.

Impressive.

“I suggest you step away from my girlfriend and her friends before somebody gets hurt.” I said threateningly. Alina immediately let go of the one guy and took a step back. I glanced at her. She was afraid. She had been alone most of her life and probably had to defend herself just like this quite a few times. “Go find food somewhere else.”

The two guys stumbled backwards and scattered out of the line.

“Are you alright?” I wrapped Alina in my arms trying to comfort her any way I could.

Eliza burst into laughter. “I don’t think she needs any rescuing.”

Alina pulled back but still rested her hands on my arms. “Rex, I’m fine. The girls had my back. Besides, I can handle myself.”

My mouth turned up into a smile. “Apparently so.” I leaned down and whispered in her ear, “It was sooo hot. I can’t wait to see what else you can really do.”

I could feel Alina melt in my arms.

“Gross, bro.” Liza shuddered. “Let’s just get some food and get outta here.”

ALINA

Back in the car, Rex held me tighter than he did on the way down. “Rex, I’m fine.”

“I realize you can handle yourself, but if you leave the territory, I’m sending a guard with you from now on.” He growled. “I know wolves are after you and I can’t protect you all the time.”

I turned my head away from him and pouted. I know he’s right, but I’ve survived this long without him and besides, those were just gross human boys. Alina, just let him protect you. That’s why we came to Red Woods remember? Kiiya always knew when to say the right thing. It was rather annoying.

“Why are rogues after you?” Eliza turned in her front seat and raised her brows.

I froze. I wasn’t ready to tell anybody yet, that I’m from Ocean Wood. “It’s complicated. I’m not exactly ready to talk about it.”

“Leave it be, Liza.” Rex warned. He leaned down and kissed the top of my head again sending sparks through my whole spine.

She huffed, “Whatever.”

Eliza has every right to be skeptical, but I just wasn’t ready to tell everyone yet. I was happy with Rex being oblivious. Soon, I found myself settling back into the comfort of Rex. His arm held me close and I breathed in his scent. It instantly relaxed me. Before long, we were pulling into the gates of the territory and arriving at the main pack house.

“I have some pack stuff to take care of, if you want to unpack all of your new clothes. I’ll pick you up later for dinner.” Rex stepped out of the vehicle as it came to a stop and reached for my hand.

“Sure, that sounds good. There’s a lot to unpack.” We went around to the trunk and I reached for some of the bags, but Rex insisted.

He carried all of them!

I followed him to my guest room upstairs and watched him set all of my bags on the bed. “Thank you.”

Rex yanked me to him and buried his face in my neck. He inhaled my scent. A low rumble escaped his throat. His tongue flickered out and licked the spot on my neck where my mark is supposed to go. His touch made me melt in his arms with sparks shooting down to my core. I could barely stand already.

He kissed my neck before stepping back, “I will see you later.”

With that, Rex left my bedroom and shut the door. Oh man, I’m in trouble.
