The Rogue Alpha

Episode 11

REX

I reluctantly left Alina in her room to unpack all of her things and play with her new phone while I had to attend some pack business. I decided to mind link my officers, Hunter and Andy. “Meet me at the office and bring Rachel. She needs to know too.”

“Know what?” Andy asked through the link.

“Get up here and I’ll tell you.” I cut off the mind link as I got into my office. I would have to start thinking about the design for Alina’s own office when she was ready to become Luna. But, I only had a few minutes to myself before everyone walked in.

“What did you have to tell us?” Hunter asked. He took a seat in one of the chairs. Rachel sat next to him and Andy stood behind her with his hands lightly massaging her shoulders. I knew today was a lot for her and Andy was worried.

“Yeah, is this about Alina?” Rachel leaned back in her chair, suddenly more relaxed. “For a rogue, she’s awesome. A bit shy for my taste, but she’s feisty.”

“She’s not a rogue.” I snarled. I stood behind my desk practically leaning over it. I didn’t want to tell Alina I knew. I wanted her to be the one ready to tell me, but my officers needed to know. They need to know what kind of rogues are coming after Alina, after Red Woods. “She is Alina Heartsbane of the Ocean Wood pack, daughter of the Alphas. She has been on the run since she was ten years old, chased by the rogues that killed her entire pack.”

“Oh.” Hunter gaped.

“Alina hasn’t told me yet, but Eliza recognized her name. I am only telling you this because eventually those rogues are going to find her and we have to be ready.”

“She’s going to bring those mutts here!” Andy growled. “Oh man, we have to up the training. We can’t let what happened to Ocean Wood happen to us!”

“Agreed. Alina didn’t mean to put us in danger by coming here, but Red Woods is the neighboring pack to Ocean Wood’s previous territory. They’ll be closing in soon, once they follow her trail here. I want patrols doubled and a guard with Alina at all times if she chooses to go outside of the territory without me. If you get any scent of rogues, I want to know about it.”

“She may not need a guard.” Rachel pointed out. “It seems she still remembers some of her young Alpha training.”

“You’re right about that, but I want one regardless. Rachel, I want you to teach her how to fight. She needs to know more than the basics.” I continued on.

“You got it!” She beamed.

“As I said, Alina doesn’t know that I know, so not a word. She’s coming to dinner with me tonight so we’ll see you guys later.”

ALINA

When Rex came back for dinner, I had unpacked all of the news clothes and was already laying in bed playing with the cellphone he got me. That’s how he found me when he let himself into the room. “Alina, you’re killing me.” Rex groaned.

After he left, I changed into a new outfit. I elected for a pair of ripped jean shorts and a longer black cropped tee with sneakers. I rolled over onto my back and was looking at Rex upside down. He stood over me and frankly, looked exhausted, but I focused on his hair was reaching his brows as he tried to push it back from his face. “What did I do?”

“You were laying way too sexy.” Rex gave me a toothy smile. “It’s distracting.”

I sat forward and turned to face him. “Oh, well, I can’t help it.” He titled my chin upwards and studied my face. Rex looked like he wanted to say something, but couldn’t quite figure it out. “What is it?”

Rex blinks a few times like he’s refocusing. “Nothing, ready for dinner?”
