ALINA Red Woods wasn’t far now. We had been running for hours and I knew Kiiya’s paws were hurting. I still wasn’t sure if this was even a good idea, but she was insisting. Kiiya, the minute we get into Red Woods, a patrol will be on us. They’ll try to kill us. No. They won’t. She pushed me to the back of her mind again focusing on the run. She knew something that she wasn’t telling me. Maybe something from the Moon Goddess. Why would I even trust what the Moon Goddess is doing? She gave me Kiiya early and then no peep since. It was utterly annoying. Unknown “We lost her!” “She must’ve swam through the ocean to lose her scent.” “We can’t let her reach Red Woods. Rex will kill us if he finds us.” “Maybe Rex will kill her for us. After all, she’s a rogue and no one knows who she is except for us.” “She’s the only witness to what we did. If she tells him and Rex comes after us, I’ll kill you first.” ALINA I think we lost them. I felt Kiiya turn her head back to see and we lost scent of the wolves too. Good because we’re here. Kiiya jumped over a massive brick wall and landed on the other side. We were officially in Red Woods territory. Immediately we could smell a patrol coming through. Kiiya shifted back to show that we weren’t feral like most wolves who had gone rogue. I stood below the massive trees that the pack was named for as the patrol burst through the undergrowth. Three wolves, one with golden-brown fur, another with deep dark red fur, and one with chocolate brown fur and black patches under his eyes, stood in front of me growling and snapping their jaws. The wolf with red fur shifted back revealing a tall burly man with ginger hair and pale skin. Freckles danced on his cheeks and his pronounced jawline was obviously notable. He was cute, but not really my type. No mate pull. “Stand down.” He ordered the two wolves. “She will cause no harm.” “Um, do you have clothes?” I had become very aware I was naked and unmated. The ginger went behind a tree and grabbed a plastic bag. Packs around the world had always hidden bags of clothes all over their territory for instances just like these. He pulled out some clothes for himself before tossing the bag at my feet. I bent down and grabbed shorts and a t-shirt. I pulled them over my head before I turned to speak with the ginger. He seemed to be in charge. “I will only speak with your Alpha.” I announced. I held my head high and looked him in the eyes. “I already mind-linked him. He’s on his way.” The ginger replied. He looked to the other wolves and seemed to have another conversation with them before they disappeared back into the territory. “You jumped our wall pretty easily.” I shrugged my shoulders. “Wasn’t that high.” Suddenly I was hit with the most wonderful smell. It was like thousands of pine trees were all around me. It smelled like Christmas. Kiiya howled in my mind and I knew instantly what had happened. A large white wolf with silver eyes burst through the trees and came to a skidding halt next to the ginger man. “Mine.” I had heard myself whisper. Crap.
