CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Air. I needed air. But I couldn’t get it. My lungs burned from a lack of air. My arms felt like they were about to snap like twigs. My ribcage felt like it was about to crack. My whole body felt like it was going to give out any second now. I won’t deny it. Fear rose within me, primordial, instinctive fear. I’d faced death many times before this, but this was different. I couldn’t just cast a spell to get out of this one, nor did I have a clever backup plan to save myself.
