Chapter 20

985 Words
I walked for what felt like hours with no sign of Jack. I felt he would need to take his anger out on someone and with the fact he couldn't get to me, meant he would kill again. I kept walking all over town hoping that I would run into him. I stopped by an alleyway so that way no one would see me in this outfit. They would think I was him.      Then I heard steps down the alley. Almost like running. Then I knew that he must be after a woman. She ended up running right into me. "Whoa, are you alright?" "He's trying to kill me." "Go run. I'll stop him." She ran off as I heard his footsteps getting closer. I saw a piece of wood by me and I picked it up and hit him as hard as I could.     I heard the thud of him hitting the ground. As soon as I heard that groan I knew it was him. Then he started laughing. "You must think you are tough now huh?" I watched him trying to get up so I hit him again. "Don't you dare act like you know anything about me." "I know you care enough about me to make love to me." "Wow Jack you really are stupid. I didn't do that because I care about you. I needed you to trust me so I could get you to let your guard down."      I thought I saw a tear run down his face. "I wanted us to be a family. Us and the children." "I was supposed to let you beat the hell out of me every time you felt like it. What would happen if you killed me. Start beating on the kids. Not a chance in the world would I let that happen." I wasn't paying attention to where his legs were. He kicked my legs out from under me. I hit the ground hard.     It knocked the wind out of me, giving him just enough time to get on top of me. Pinning me to the ground. "Now what are you going to do?" Little did he know I had a knife up my sleeve. I just needed to get my arm free. "How could you do this to me Jackie? I loved you and you stab me in the back. Do you know how hard it is to get a knife out of your own back?"      I didn't respond, I just laid there. I knew he would be stupid enough to fall for another one of my tricks. So I just closed my eyes for a few minutes. Letting him question what he was doing. He released his grip slightly on my arms. Sitting back on my stomach. I had to move fast.  I didn't want to kill him right away. I wanted him to suffer as I did. So I hit him with my elbow right in the groin area. Hoping I had hit something to cause him pain. He fell off of me crying out in pain.  I hurried up off of the ground and kicked him a few more times. I felt so good to hear him in pain. I started thinking about how I could torture him. Like he deserved. He had tortured the world enough. I took a breather for a few moments thinking I had hurt him enough to get a few minutes to enjoy this.  He was a lot stronger than I had thought. He was on his feet with me pinned against the wall. "Jack you know you don't want to hurt the mother of your children." "You know what I actually would be more satisfied by your death than any others." With that statement I knew it was time to take care of this.  The knife slipped into my hand just as I had planned, but not quick enough. Jack saw the knife and grabbed it from my hand. "So this is how you repay me for granting you two children. You were going to kill me?" "No Jack I wouldn't hurt you." "You stabbed me in the back." He raised the knife up, somehow I knew this was the end for me. I closed my eyes. Then Jack screamed out in pain and released his grip on me. I opened my eyes to see little Thomas. Just standing there with a bloody knife in his hand. "Thanks for all the things you taught me Uncle Jack, but I can't let you hurt Aunt Jackie." That was all that was said before Thomas slit Jack's throat and watched him bleed out on the sidewalk. I was so proud and horrified at the same time. "Thomas?" "One moment Aunt Jackie. My work isn't done." I watched as my little boy, the one who turned my life around, gutted this man. Eleven year old Thomas gutted him like a professional. That was Jack's plan all along was to turn Thomas into a killer just like him. Thomas was the one who changed my life. I hope after tonight I can turn Thomas's life around to. After he finished up, he looked at me with the same childlike eyes. "Are you ready to go home Aunt Jackie?" All I could do was smile. Finally my family would be at peace. Only thing now was, will Thomas be a serial killer the same way as Jack?  That's a chance I'm willing to take. My sweet little boy. The one who was no blood relation, means more than anyone else in my life. Reached his hand out so I could hold his bloody hand as we walked home together, to go tell the rest of the family the good news. Not only did he save my life. He also got revenge on the man who killed his parents all those years again. Justice has finally been served.
