I laid in bed for days. I was in so much pain. What was I going to do? I have to stop him and get Thomas back. That is hoping that Thomas is still alive. That thought hurt me more than it should have. I looked down at my side to see if my stitches were holding.
I was very grateful to see it was still holding. I had to do something. The bleeding might have killed me if I hadn't. This way though I knew for a fact that Jack was here. In turn meant that he knew I was here. He never really came out during the day so I wouldn't have to worry about him finding me very easy.
I needed to get my strength back up so that way I could go out looking for him again tonight. I pulled myself up to sit on the side of the bed. I groaned a little bit feeling how much it tore on the stitches. I checked to make sure there was no bleeding. I washed my button up shirt trying to get the blood out of it.
The site was a slight pink color. I was letting it dry right now. I needed to find Thomas, so no matter how much pain I was in. I hoped he would turn up. I was so determined to find him. I felt my shirt so that way I would know if it was dry or not. It still needed drying so I figured that I would head outside for the day.
I got dressed up in one of my old dresses. I walked outside and felt the sun on my face. Taking a deep breath to enjoy the day ahead of me. I walked to a small shop around the corner from my room. They had a selection of toys. Well stuffed animals. I thought of my kids. I found Emily a southern belle doll, and Damion a brown teddy bear. Then I saw a soldier doll. I knew it would be perfect for Thomas.
I bought all of the toys, and headed back to my room. I put the toys into my bag and slid the bag back under the bed. I smiled a little thinking about the smiles on the kids faces when I gave them their toys. Even little Thomas. I was so excited that I might find him. Glancing outside I see the sun starting to go down. I knew it was time to start getting ready for the night.
The button up shirt was finally dry. That was the final touch to my outfit for the night. I grabbed my knife and slid it in my pocket. The sun had gone down just enough for me to start checking the alleyways. I needed to find something fast. I feel that the time is running out for Thomas.
I sat down by some trash cans, waiting so patiently. I heard footsteps running. Little footsteps. Then I heard the person fall. "Ouch." I knew the voice right away. "Thomas?" "Aunt Jackie? Is that you?" I jumped up from my hiding spot. "Oh my goodness. My baby!" I picked him up in my arms hugging him so tightly.
I carried him to my room to keep him hidden from Jack. "Thomas? What happened?" "He grabbed me when I got out of school. He kept me in a room, hidden from everyone. I was so scared." I put my arms around him as he started to cry. "It's okay baby. I got you. He won't find you ever again. I will make sure of it."
I let him cry for as long as he needed to. I sat him down on the bed. "I have something for you." I grabbed the bag and opened it. "Here Thomas. You a little soldier doll." "Thank you Aunt Jackie. Can I get some sleep?" "Of course." "Can you hold me? I'm still scared." "Sure baby."
I sat down on the bed and Thomas cuddled up to me and fell right asleep. I watched him most of the night. I finally had my baby back. I dozed off with a smile on my face. After a few hours I woke up and looked down to see Thomas. Sound asleep. Smiling while he held his new doll. That made me so happy.
We woke up about the same time. "Good morning Aunt Jackie." "Good morning Thomas. Are you ready to go home?" "Yes mam!" He started jumping up and down on the bed. I smiled looking at this little boy who had been kidn*pped and kept by a serial killer. Yet he is still smiling and happy. It made me happy to see that.
I grabbed my bag and put a shirt over Thomas. Kind of him giving him a cover for us to get on the train, after getting the tickets. "Here Thomas, this is your ticket." We boarded the train and I sat by the window as the train started moving. I looked at the window. I was in so much shock when I saw Jack standing there watching the train leave. I ducked from the window before he could see me.
He must have been looking for Thomas. Thomas stayed right at my side. Staying very close to me. He fell asleep again. He must have not slept very much with Jack having him. It scared me to know what Jack did to this little boy. I could see the pain in his eyes. It worried me. I needed to get him some help, but didn't know where to start.
I decided to go ahead and get some sleep too. I dreamed a happy dream. One where we were all happy. Mr. Knight, Thomas, Emily, and Damion. One big happy family. I was hoping and praying that it could be like that one day. I hoped so much for that. I heard the brakes of the train, so I knew it was time to get home. I threw my bag over my shoulder and picked up Thomas and started off of the train. Just so ready to be home.
The walk wasn't very long from the train station. It was the afternoon by the time I made it home. I knocked on the door, and little Damion's voice was heard from the other side of the door. "Who is it?" "It's mama baby." The door flew open and there were my babies standing at the door. They both hugged me legs as Mr. Knight came around the corner and noticed I had Thomas in my arms.
"Jackie, you made it home. I see you got Thomas back." "Well, he found me anyway." Thomas started moving around so I knew he was waking up. Emily and Damion yelled out his name. Thomas jumped out of my arms and hugged them. Mr. Knight gave me a hug. I winced in pain. "Jackie, what happened?" "Long story. I'll tell you about it in the morning." "Good night Mr. Knight. Good night kids. "Night Jackie." "Night Aunt Jackie. " "Night mama."
