The reasons my Violet lists in favor of the act of love are so mundane and vulgar that I hesitate to record them here. She wishes to discover what others are talking about and to understand so-called dirty jokes (ah, her love of dinginess extends beyond all bounds!)—presumably Laurence and his cohorts are so despicable as to talk and joke about s****l matters in the presence of my innocent one. She had earlier listed the fact that people would look different to her on the positive side, but has crossed it out before adding it to her list under the negative. Is she already looking upon people differently now that I have awakened her desires? Is my Violet a true innocent?
