If every word that I have written about you were colors, I might have had enough to paint the entire world.
I used think that maybe, if I bled enough metaphors, I would be enough to keep you. Maybe, if I captured you in a different angle, you would stay where you are. Maybe, if I was given another chance, I could rewrite our story in such a way that not all of our chapters were ended with goodbye.
So I poured myself out. I drowned every page with my affection so that everyone would know about us. I handed out road maps that indicate where I thought our story was heading. I broadcasted my heartbeats to the universe because I thought that was what you wanted.
But I was wrong, wasn't I?
The manifesto of my undying love, the vows about our forever, the novels of the adventures that I wanted us to have were all thrown to a waste the moment you walked away.
I should have known that in the end, words are just words. No matter how lovely or sincere, they were nothing but jumbled letters. The ink will fade and the pages will burn. People will forgot what they have read or heard. Only I will be the one left to remember the memories that I tried so hard to contain in my written thoughts.
And so I'm back, typing all these letters out, trying to make sense of what I really wanted to tell you. I think I have lost my words when I lost you. I think you took them with you or they just willingly followed you because I couldn't.
One thing I know for sure is this: I have learned to love you in silence. I was able to contain my heartbeats without feeling the need to turn them into paragraphs of a prose or stanzas of a poem. I realized that love doesn't have to be loud and that the world doesn't have to know everything.
The next time I fall in love, I will let my heartbeats speak. I will treasure silence and base in its purity.
So thank you for walking away. Thank you for presenting me with the truth. Thank you for breaking my heart by ignoring my words.
I swear I will never love anyone the way I loved you.
