Tycho looked at the clock, and realized that it was getting towards the time that the mess hall opened for dinner. "How about this, I need to address some business while I have dinner. How about we resume in a more casual setting in say about 2 hours?" he asked them.
"I am not sure what else you wish to discuss Mr. President, would it not be up to me to decide?" Eric asked him.
"It will be yes, but there is a lot more information you need before you make that decision. Normally you would be given years to decide if this is what you want to do, you will likely have less than a week. I could really use an answer tonight." Tycho told him as they both stood up.
"Mr. President, I would be delighted to meet with you. I will advise you however, I am not in the mood for conversation right now. If we continue after dinner, I will want direct answers to my questions. Otherwise my answer will be a resounding no before you speak another word of what you wish to say." Eric said before he left the room without giving him another chance to speak. He knew what he had just done would be very insubordinate, however he was beyond the point of caring.
"I will go speak to him." Holly said as she saluted the President.
"Go easy on him, he really has had a difficult week. He just took the BAR exam, and received the highest score ever recorded. I do not know where he found the time to study." Tycho said as he dismissed her so she could run after him.
He had made it to the mess hall before she caught up, and she knew he was pissed as soon as she sat down. "What?" he asked aggressively as he cut the steak he had been served.
"Why are you mad at me?" she asked as he stood up.
"I am not, just not in the mood to talk to anyone. If you will excuse me." he said leaving all but a few bites of his dinner right on front of her as he walked out of the building.
2 hours later he walked into the office the President had been given, and looked at the people sitting there. His anger flared as he looked at the President.
"Since it seems you have no respect for me, my answer is no." he said as he took his bird off his collar and threw it on the table in front of him. "Consider this my resignation." he said before he turned crisply and walked right back out of the room.
Every one of them was stunned beyond words as they watched him walk towards the doorway. "Stop him." Tycho said looking at his guards who did indeed move to stop him.
The first found his head smashed into the table, his nose clearly shattered by the various ways it now twisted and bent where it was not supposed to in multiple places. Each of them felt a chill in the air as he grabbed the other guard by the throat, and lifted him several inches off the ground. "Get. Out. Of. My. Way." he said emphasizing each word before he literally threw the man into the wall next to the door and walked out of it.
Even General Knight was surprised by what they had seen, as they knew only combat officers were trained with auras. The raw power of his was clear evidence that he was not to be messed with at the moment.
"Oh s**t, when was he taught that?" Tycho asked knowing full well what it was.
"I was not aware he was sir." General Knight replied.
"If you will excuse me?" Holly asked as she stood up. She had a small idea where he was headed, and just hoped she was right. He hadn't kept anything in his quarters he would lament losing, as she feared because of her presence he was now pissed at her as well. She ran to his office, and found him clearing out his safe as that was where he had kept his important documents.
"What do you want Lt. Colonel Winters?" he asked very coldly. She swore she could feel the temperature drop several degrees as he looked right at her.
"Can we talk?" she asked.
"Go speak with the President, it is beyond clear he has no issue disseminating my business to anyone he sees fit. Don't be afraid to tell him what little you know, just leave me the f**k out of this bullshit." he said as he continued packing.
Holly had a tear come to her eye, as she knew he felt betrayed with that. "That is not what is happening-" she started when he zipped the bag.
"I do not care what you think was happening, nor what any one of those other pieces of trash has to say. Are you finished?" he asked her as it was clear he was about to lose control.
"Don't do this." she said simply as he smiled.
"You have no idea what I am about to do, as not even I do. It was nice knowing you, it is unfortunate I never want to see you again." he said before he pushed past her and in a flash was down the hallway with the door slamming shut.
The next morning as soon as the guard station unsealed the base, it was clear they were on alert for him to leave. There had even been a squad stationed at the walking path, and he had no desire to injure anyone.
"Colonel Christensen?" A man asked him from a few feet away.
Eric looked at him, and realized he was holding a letter. "If you do not want me to rip your head off and s**t down the hole, I suggest you speak quickly." Eric said as the man pulled a letter from his pocket and attempted to hand it to him. Without hesitation Eric ripped it in half and threw them aside without even looking at the envelope. "I said speak you useless piece of garbage, not hand me some bullshit envelope from God knows who. If you are unable to speak, I will rip your tongue out and deliver it to your master so they may know how useless you are!" Eric yelled so loudly every guard was now paying attention to him.
"Sir, you are hereby ordered to report to the conference room-" he managed to get out before Eric turned away from him and right into an MP.
"Issues?" the man asked him.
"Only incompetent morons who are under the mistaken belief I am in the mood to deal with you idiots." Eric spat at him. "Move." he said making it clear he had no qualms about forcing him to.
"Take him into custody Sergeants, he has orders to report to the President in the Admin building." the man that had given him the letter stated as 6 of them now were looking at him.
The first grabbed hold of Eric, and before he knew what was happening found himself in a heap several feet away from the throw Eric had performed. The rest of them saw this, and knew that he was well trained in combat.
"Sir, if you come with us we can figure this out. Otherwise we will have to subdue you." the Corporal said as another of them called for backup. Eric knew that theirreinforcements for this would be shock troops, and would be about 4 minutes before they arrived.
"You think you can hold me until they arrive?" he asked the Corporal.
"Oh, a new recruit. Let's see what you have." a man said behind him. "Clear the area, form a ring." he said as Eric watched them do just that about 10 steps away from him.
He was intrigued enough to turn around slowly and see that he was looking at the Combat Instructor for the troops that were stationed here for security. "Ok Master Sergeant, I am ready to play." Eric said with a smile as the Sergeant attacked before he had even turned.
Sergeant Blaze could tell he was well instructed, and just as he thought Eric was much faster than he appeared at first look. He was faster than the Sergeant was, but he had enough experience to adjust on the fly and followed up his missed attack to find he was trying to hit air as Eric had danced to the side as soon as he had missed. Blaze was fast enough that he found Eric, who was actually smiling as he looked at the Sergeant.
"Nice try, that may work with the green horns you are used too. You are nearly as good as Hunter, too bad I surpassed him a few years ago." Eric said as he launched himself at the Sergeant, and was surprised when his strike had been blocked, despite Blaze being forced back several feet.
The Sergeant nodded as the shock team arrived, and Eric nodded knowing they had responded much faster than he had expected. "Very Good Colonel Christensen, now I see why Sergeant Hunter was always amazed by you. I however am far more experienced, and it will take much more than that to best me. Either way, you will eventually be reporting to the President as ordered. So, will it be the easy way? Or the hard way?" he asked as he rolled his neck and shoulders to loosen up.
What he hadn't expected was for Eric to take a ready stance, just as the first waves of his Aura started forming. He could feel the temperature drop from 15 feet away, and knew that this fight would be far more challenging than he had expected. "You need more men Sergeant." Eric said as he heard the siren sound as Lt. General Knight stormed through the troops to the front gate.
"What the hell is going on here?!" he demanded as the one side of the ring opened and his eyes went wide. "Colonel Christensen, why are you attacking my men?" he demanded.
"They are trying to prevent me from leaving." he said not taking his eyes off of the Sergeant who was waiting as well.
Knight was about to charge into the fight, when he felt the chilling effect on the very edge of where the men had formed the ring.
Before Eric could react further, he saw a man he had not expected. President Tycho was being flanked by his security, and they were being left behind as the man moved nearly as fast as Eric could.
"Very well Colonel, let us do it this way. If you can beat me, you will be free to leave. If I defeat you, you will sit the f**k down and listen to what the hell I have to say to you." President Tycho said angrily.
"Speak all you want, the answer will still be no." Eric replied as he split his focus on the two men.
President Tycho growled, and Sergeant Blaze got the hint that he needed to withdraw while he had the opportunity. "Why are you being difficult?" he asked as he took his jacket off and rolled up his sleeves.
"Just say what the f**k you have to say, it seems privacy means absolutely nothing to you any f*****g way. So speak, because I refuse your terms as you have my answer. If my throwing my bird at you wasn't clear enough, I resign effective immediately. I refuse to work with a God damn moron that has no f*****g clue what need to know is." Eric told him as Holly finally forced her way to the front.
"Stop this s**t and listen Eric, what you think is happening is wrong." Holly yelled and knew he had completely ignored her when he didn't react.
"Colonel Heinrich, you and I need to have a discussion." he said simply.
"Yet the two times I have attempted to do just that, I walk into rooms filled with other people who have no need to know my personal business sitting there discussing it with you. The answer is no, you have no respect for me, I WILL NOT work with you." Eric told him.
"Really? Despite what you might think, I am a very busy man with little time between meetings. I have not discussed what you and I need to discuss with anyone." Tycho said as Eric launched his first attack at full speed. It took him by surprise, as Tycho realized that the Aura was even effecting him.
Eric had learned what Hunter had always called a complex Aura, as he could empower those he felt were allies while slowing those who were his enemies. His strike hit Tycho square in the chest, and sent him back several yards as he recovered from the hit. "Your lies will not sway me Mr. President, as you lost all credibility before we ever met." Eric said before he turned and walked away. The guards were smart enough to get out of his way as he was walking towards the admin office.
