Chapter 2: A Familiar Face

Once I arrived at our unit, I set the groceries on the kitchen counter before plopping myself on the couch. I still grumbled and cursed at how bitter I felt seeing the couple at the grocery store. I sighed.

After a few minutes, I decided to fix the groceries and make dinner before the girls arrive. As I was setting the frozen goods, my phone vibrated in my pocket.

I fished it out of my pocket and saw that Mia sent a message to our groupchat.

Mia: I'll be staying with Hiro tonight. I'll be back in the morning

Alexa: Oh alright then!

Type message: Alright then. See you tomorrow, Mia

I forgot. She's having movie date night with Hiro.

I sent the message before continuing my task at hand. I decided to make a light meal for dinner since it'll only be Alexa and I. I gathered the ingredients and started to chop some veggies. It was quiet in the unit so I played some music to lighten up my mood. As I cook, I sang along to the songs playing in my playlist and danced a bit, swaying my hips a little.

I was too absorbed in my own little world that I didn't hear the door open.

"Sei!!! I'm home!" I heard Alexa's loud voice rung through the whole unit.

"I'm cooking dinner, Alexa." I said loud enough for her to hear. I heard her footsteps get closer and another person's voice?

"It smells so good, Sei. I almost forgot! We have guests!" She said as she approached my side. I looked at her with a raised eyebrow and she just beamed at me. This girl really knows how to make me give in.

"Well then, you better set more plates at the table." I said and continued to focus on my cooking. Alexa giggled happily and went to set more plates.

After a couple more minutes, I finished cooking and set the dish in a more presentable bowl. I set it on the table and noticed that we have 2 male guests.

"Alexa. Dinner's ready." I said as I took off the apron and hung it on its rightful place.

"Oh! Sei, you know Max, right?" She gestured to the tall man with curly blonde hair.

"Yeah. Of course. It's a surprise that he's here though." I said and gave Max a small smile. Maximus Conors, Alexa's boyfriend. They've been together for a couple of months now. He looked like a pretty decent guy so I just let them have their fun.

"This one right here is Hazuki. Hazuki Sakurai. The owner of the coffee shop near campus." My gaze transferred to the other man beside Alexa. He wore such dark clothes and such black hair. It almost looked soft and silky. Then, my eyes landed on his face. My jaw dropped.

"Hazuki, this is my friend I was talking about, Seijun Fujimoto." Alexa intoduced. My fingers were twitching.

Dang it! He was the guy back at the supermarket! I knew he looked familiar and all, but what kind of twisted fate is this?!

I closed my mouth and smiled softly. "It... It's nice to finally meet the owner of Moonlight Corner." I tried not to stutter.

"It's nice to meet you too. I was told that Alexa has a... wild friend." I winced at his comment, but his voice sounded so deep yet soft and pleasant to the ears.

"My friends are both wild, you know? Right! Let's eat before the food gets cold." Alexa practically dragged Max and Hazuki to the dining table and I followed with a soft sigh.

I sat beside Alexa and across Hazuki. I had to keep my head bowed a bit to avoid getting involved in the conversation.

"So ,Seijun, what are taking up? I assume it's something fashion related." I lifted my head up to see the three of them looking at me.

"Oh well... I guess. I'm taking arts and design." I smiled a little.

"Alexa said that you've just finished your exams last week and planned on chilling out." Max said as he ran his hand through his hair.

"Yeah. Well, even if exam week was over, I still have a few requirements to finish and plan to chill out one of this days." I let out a small giggle. Alexa grabbed my hand and stared at me.

"We should arrange a hang out! The four of us then Mia and Hiro! What do you think?" She beamed at me again. My left eye twitched, but I gave her a small smile.

"Maybe next time, yeah? I bet we all still have requirements to finish." I replied and clutched on her hand a bit tightly, just a signal that I do not approve of the idea. She giggled almost mischieviously.

I smiled at the two men infront of me and continued eating while making small chats here and there. I could have sworn that my confidence just flew out the window.

I didn't really think that the guy with the horny b***h was someone famous and filthy rich. I might as well throw myself out the window.

- After Dinner -

I cleaned up the dishes with Alexa's help while the two guys were in the living room, out of earshot.

"Alexa, I think I'm ready to throw myself out the window." I whispered loud enough for her to hear.

She giggled and rubbed my back, "Tell me what really happened, Sei."

I looked at her with squinted eyes. She was smiling, innocently. I hesitated then sighed.

"I kinda bumped into Mr. Hazuki in the supermarket earlier and kinda... said something rude." I winced at the last part. I was flushed from embarrassment.

Alexa just stared blankly at me so I felt nervous.

I was about to say something when she spoke, "You... said something rude to Hazuki?"

I gulped slightly and turned off the faucet.

"Well, it wasn't like I wanted to be rude. I just... snapped since him and his b***h were being too... horny in public." I slammed a hand on the counter and looked at Alexa with embarrassment and frustration.

"Oh! So he was with his new b***h?" Alexa asked with a smile. I nodded.

She bursted out laughing while holding her stomach. I blinked once and then twice.

"What was so funny?" From my peripheral vision, I could see the two guys looked in our direction.

"Now I know the reason of his rants. He said that there was this rude girl who lectured him and his b***h about public decency. He was shocked and then the girl left him in the parking lot because she was no longer in the mood." She explained and I was shocked.

So the girl left? She's so petty.

I cleared my throat and dried my hands, leaving a giggling Alexa, before approaching the guys.

"So... uhmm... will both of you stay the night or..." I wasn't able to finish what I was saying because Alexa suddenly wrapped her arms around my waist.

"Nope. We'll just watch a few movies then they'll hit the road." She said and Max gave her a warm smile.

"Thank you though, Sei. For letting us join you for dinner. It was really good." Max said and I smiled a bit.

"Yeah. No problem. I could've prepared a better meal if Alexa told me we were having guests." I shyly said then I heard Hazuki and Alexa giggled.

"You don't look as wild as I thought you would be." Hazuki commented. I tilted my head and smirked.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, Mr. Hazuki. Everyone has another side of themselves that they just can't reveal." I smiled at him a bit before bidding them goodnight.

"Wait! Sei! You won't join our movie night?" Alexa asked loudly.

"I'll pass!" I yelled from my room then shut the door close.

Hazuki's POV

I was taken aback by her actions. I looked at Alexa and she looked at both Max and I.

"I'm really sorry about her. She isn't really the friendly type." She was mostly directing it to me since I was the only one whom she met for the first time.

"That's fine, Alexa. I don't really mind. Really, she seems to have more manners than I do." I let out a soft chuckle.

"It takes time for Sei to warm up to others, but once she's close to you, she'd be your most trusted person." Alexa smiled softly before heading back to the kitchen.

Max chuckled and nodded, "She's right. It took me a few weeks to get close to her and I tell you, man. She's like a wild beast." I heard Alexa's laugh from the kitchen.

She then returned with some snacks and sodas then plopped herself beside Max, "She'll warm up to you too, Hazuki. Just you wait." She gave me a wink and I pouted at her.

"It seems hard though." I whispered then Max chuckled while scrolling for a movie to watch. Alexa shook her head slightly while giggling.

"And don't forget! I should be getting laid tonight, but that b***h left me just because she wasn't in the mood anymore. The nerve." I muttered and grabbed a bag of chips.

Oh? So we're watching horror, huh?

"Well, ain't it a good thing since you got to eat real food tonight?" Max then glanced at me and I huffed a breath.

I was eating a load of take outs for the past few weeks because of work. Tonight was the only night that I got to eat homemade food.

"Yeah. You're right." I mumbled then I suddenly realized something, "Oh! I haven't thanked her for the meal yet." I jumped a little from my seat.

"It's alright. Sei wouldn't really care if you thanked her or not." Alexa said before shoving a few chips in her mouth. I grimaced.

"But it's not right though. The food was really good and I wanted to compliment her too." I pouted again. Alexa gave me a side glance and chuckled.

"Fine fine. I'll give her number. She might be asleep already so thank her tomorrow." I happily gave my phone to Alexa as she added Seijun's number to my contacts.

When she gave me back my phone, I smiled a bit. No woman has ever been that rude to me and even if they did, they would immediately apologize, but not her. Even though she had met me already, she didn't apologize. She is an interesting one.

"You ok, man? You've been staring at your phone for quite a while." Max said. I snapped back to reality.

"Oh. Yes, I'm fine, dude." I replied and then we continued watching the movie.

- 3 hours later -

"Thank you guys for joining Sei and I for dinner." Alexa was smiling brightly as Max and I stood by their front door.

"Anything for you, love." Max said and leaned in for a kiss which Alexa happily returned. I smiled.

I want to find my true love soon.

When they pulled away from their kiss, Alexa gave me a tight hug and I returned it with a soft chuckle.

"All of us should hang out real soon. I'll make sure to drag Sei if I have to!" Alexa exclaimed with a small hint of playfulness in her eyes.

"I'm sure it'll be awesome." I replied and ruffled her hair.

The three of us giggled before Max gave Alexa one last kiss and hug. We then left their condo after a few minutes.

I hopped into Max's car and sat on the passenger seat.

Max then revved the engine and drove off.

He gave me a side glance then asked, "Where to, man? The club or your office?"

"Nah. Just drop me off at my condo. I'm exhausted as fuck." I huffed and slouched on my seat.

"Well, this is new. I wonder what got Mr. Energizer exhausted." Max teased and I leaned on the window slightly.

"I don't actually know why. One minute, I was excited to f**k and play around then the next thing I know, I'm feeling sleepy and tired all over." I sighed softly.

"Is it because of Seijun?" He asked, eyes kept on the road.

I looked at him and stared for a moment before looking back outside.

"I don't know. She's kinda different from the wild girls I've been with."

"She is, isn't she? I heard she's dating one of my co-workers." Max said. I blinked at that.

"I didn't know she was into older men. I mean, I know a bunch of girls like that, but damn, she's almost graduating."

Max laughed and shook his head, "Well, I know for a fact that she still maintains her grades and passes her exams."

"Oh. Well, that's good for her then." I fished out my phone and decided to send her a message.

Type message: Hey. It's me, Hazuki. Thank you for the food. It was really good. :)

I pressed send and smiled to myself.

"Wait. Hiro is with Mia, right?" I asked and Max nodded, "Yep. They're in his unit again."

"Damn. I wish I could f**k as often like Hiro." I pouted and Max just laughed at me.

The car stopped in front of my condo.

"Thanks for the ride, man. Drive safely." I patted Max's shoulder and he nodded at me with a smile.

I got out of his car and waited for him to drive off before going to my unit.

When I reached my unit, I immediately took a shower. I let out a long sigh of relief as the warm water touched my skin. It felt nice and calming. I closed my eyes and the first thing that came to my mind was those shocked big brown eyes. I wondered how she would look like crying. I inhaled deeply and breathed heavily. She was gorgeous and I wanted to do things to her, but I also wanted to try and let her soften up to me like she does with Max and Alexa. I shook my head and sighed.

After taking a long shower, I headed to my closet and grabbed a pair of boxers and sweatpants. I towel dried my hair and sat at the edge of my bed then I heard a soft chime on my phone. I took it from the nightstand and checked who messaged me this late.

Seijun: You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.

She f*****g responded. I thought she might be asleep like Alexa said, but I was completely wrong.

I plopped on my bed and stared at her message. I hesitated if I should continue with the message or leave it at that. I groaned and dropped my phone beside me.

A couple of seconds later, another chime came from my phone. I checked the message.

Seijun: So... uhh... sorry for being rude earlier. Didn't mean to make your bed cold tonight.

I blinked twice before processing her message. My mouth gapped like a fish and the next thing I know, I was giggling to myself like a complete i***t.

Type Message: Well, it's not unusual for my bed to be cold, but I was really expecting to f**k tonight. :)

I sent my message and waited for a couple of minutes before she replied again.

Seijun: I am really so so so sorry!!! I should at least help you get someone willing to warm your bed, yeah?

She's wild and rude, yes, yet she seems to be too kind for her own good.

Type Message: Nah. It's fine. I got to hang out with Max and Alexa and of course, you, so that's enough. Plus, I'm a bit tired already. :D

I sent her a super happy face to let her know that it really is fine to not have someone in my bed tonight.

Seijun: Well, if you say so. Thank you and goodnight. :)

When I saw her latest message, I couldn't help but feel a little pride and joy. I finally am able to be a tiny bit close to Seijun.

Type Message: You're welcome. Goodnight and sleep tight, Seijun. :D

Our conversation ended there, but even though I felt tired all over, I couldn't sleep. I stared at the ceiling before my eyelids felt heavy.

- The Next Morning -

I woke up to the loud crash. I jumped out of bed and rushed to the kitchen. There, I saw Hiro and Max holding a pan, spatula and a pot. I raised an eyebrow.

"We were just trying to make breakfast quietly when Max accidentally hit the pot right there." Hiro said, pointing the spatula at Max who was busy placing the pots on their rightful places.

"It was an accident, 'kay? Plus, it was placed at the very edge of the counter." Max glared at me and I gulped, looking away.

"Enough of that. Why are you guys here? Don't you have work to do?" I walked to the kitchen and poured myself a cup of coffee. I sat on the stool by the counter and sipped my coffee.

"Well, my client is still talking to his wife about the design of the house so I have nothing to do. Paperworks are done too, soooo I'm free for the day!" Hiro said and flipped the bacon he was cooking.

"I have the day off until tomorrow because my boss is out on a business trip." Max said simply and sat on the stool beside me, coffee in hand. I nodded and realized that I was the only one who has work today.

"Alright. Since you guys have nothing else to do, why don't you help me in the coffee shop, yeah?" I beamed at them and they just stared at each other before smiling.

"Yeah, man. Sure." Hiro said and set the plate of food in front of us.

"By the way, how was last night? I didn't get to tag along since I promised Mia a movie marathon. I hope Alexa didn't mind." Hiro said and poked his food while looking at us.

"She didn't mind because apparently, Mia told her about the movie date you guys had planned. Oh! It was a sudden invitation anyway so... yeah." Max explained and I nodded while biting on my toast.

"How was Seijun though? I haven't really met her personally." Hiro sipped on his coffee and I replied, "She's really wild and fierce, but gorgeous."

Hiro spit out his coffee directly at Max's shirt.

"Hiro! Dude, what the f**k?!"

"You've already slept with her?!" Hiro stood in his seat, shocked, ignoring Max's despair.

"No. Why the f**k do you think that?" I asked casually and saw Max enter my room then came back out with a fresh shirt in hand.

"You said she was wild and fierce plus gorgeous. I know she is, but even in bed?!" Hiro asked, still bewildered.

Max sat back down beside me and sighed.

"Nah. I didn't sleep with her. I mean, she gives me bad b***h vibes which is cool and well she can be really rude and nice at the same time." I said and finished the last bit of my toast.

"Say that sooner then. I thought you've already done it with her." I laughed at Hiro's remark while Max shook his head, giggling.

I sipped my coffee before saying, "She called me a person without public decency, you know?"

Hiro raised an eyebrow, "Why?"

"She caught him making out with his chick at a supermarket's parking lot." Max said and I shrugged, chuckling.

"Oh. Was she that rude?" Hiro asked.

"Not really." Max said.

"Yeah. She was. Although, those brown eyes of hers looked really sexy when glaring." I smirked at the flashback of how she looked at us with a death glare.

I noticed that Max and Hiro was staring at me so I raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"You like her?" Max asked.

"Just interested." I said and finished my coffee. I looked up at the clock in the living room and saw that it was past 7 a.m.

"We better head to the coffee shop. I need to check the supplies, get reports and shit." I said and headed to the bathroom.

"Oh. Well, nice of you to ditch the dishes!" Hiro yelled out and I laughed loudly.

- 1 hour later -

We arrived at the coffee shop. We took my car instead of Max's. We got out of the car and headed inside. There were already a lot of people when we entered, but the staff was really doing their job well. I smiled a bit and went to the back of the coffee shop.

"Hey, dude. We're gonna go help out there. That's alright, yeah?" Hiro whispered and I chuckled.

"Alright alright. Just don't slow them down, 'kay?" Max smiled at my comment before dragging Hiro to change clothes.

After they left, I talked to the manager about the sales and supplies of the shop. I was relieved when he said that the supplies are regularly checked and ingredients are being stocked regularly as well.

I smiled and thanked the manager before heading out to counter. I rolled up my sleeves and asked one of the baristas to refill the caramel syrup. I then started to skim some milk and brew fresh coffee beans. I could feel some customers staring, but I focused on my task and smiled when I finished brewing the coffee beans.

I finished making some of the orders, until I heard a familiar voice.

"I would like a large iced caramel machiatto please. Oh and uhmm with extra caramel syrup." I turned around and made eye contact with the most beautiful brown eyes that went really wide. I held back a smile before whispering to my staff that I would be taking her order.

I started preparing the drink and after drizzling a good amount of caramel to her drink, I made a cup of Americano. I took a tray and set down the drinks then took a slice of crepe cake from our displays. I gave the extra bill to my staff before heading to her table beside the window. I could feel Max staring at me with a smirk while Hiro is holding himself not to scream.

Once I got to her table, I set down the tray and sat across her.

"Mr. Hazuki."

"Hazuki is just fine, Seijun." I smiled at her and she just nodded at me.

"So why are you alone on a bright Sunday morning?" I asked.

"I met with my boyfriend, explained something to him and..." She trailed off. I tilted my head, confused, but still smiling.

She smiled bitterly, tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear then looked straight into my eyes with such coldness.

"Broke up with him with one last taste of my lips."

I blink once then twice. My smile faded.

Oh. She's not just wild. She's really... really wild.
