With our feelings laid bare and our hearts intertwined, it felt as though we were finally on the cusp of something beautiful—a love story in the making, with all the promise and possibility that it entailed. But as we soon discovered, the path to true love is rarely smooth, and our journey together would be no exception.

The first obstacle we faced came in the form of distance. His job required him to travel frequently, often for weeks at a time, leaving me feeling adrift in a sea of uncertainty.
