Chapter 7

Eva POV

I reached Luna Sarah's room and knocked on the door. I went inside when Luna asked me to enter. “ Good afternoon Luna” I said with a bow. “ come on sweetheart, call me mom. You are my daughter in law after all” she said with a bright smile and gestured me to sit beside her.

“how is your first day going on in your new pack” she asked me. “good lu.. mom” I said.

“Mom can you please tell me what I will have to do as a Luna of the pack and things I should know” I asked with hope.

“ Of course dear I will” she said. After that we talked for almost an hour when the door of the room opened and Alpha Justin walked in with Aron walking behind him.

I stood up and bowed in front of him. “ how are you child” he asked me when he sat down on the couch in front of us.

“I am fine Alpha how are you.”

“ I am good. I was going to call you it’s good you are already here. Meet Aron, he is the best warrior of our pack and from today onwards he is your bodyguard and will protect you from any harm” he said.

I am looking at him in confusion. “ I don’t need a bodyguard” I said politely. “you need one” mom said.

“But mom..” I was cut off in middle “ no buts our decision is final” Alpha said leaving no place for argument. I sighed in defeat.

“Okay Alpha” I said agreeing to him.

“It’s not fair, you are calling her mom so you should call me dad” he said with a soft smile on his face. I smiled at him and said “ okay Dad”. These words feel foreign to me as my parents died when I was a child.

“Aron her safety is your responsibility, I hope you won’t disappoint me” dad said to Aron.

“Of course not Alpha, I will protect our Luna no matter what happens” he said. He looked at me for few seconds then averted his gaze from me.

“you may leave now” Alpha told him. “I will take my leave as well. Thank you Mom for all the things you told me today” I said. “ you can come to me whenever you want to know anything” she said. I am lucky to have her as my mother in law.

Aron and I bowed in respect and left.

“So you are our Luna” he said staring at me.

“Yeah” I replied awkwardly.

“ I was wondering why Alpha Justin called me from borders but now I know. Don’t worry I will always protect you” he said. “ thank you but you don’t have to I can take care of myself” I said.

“how can I not, I can’t go against his order” he said. He is right. Silent fell over us as no one said anything for some time.

“So, what are your plans today Luna” he asked me.

“You can call me Eva, and regarding my plan I want to have a tour of the pack” I said.

“ okay I will be your tour guide then” he said with a grin. “ you are injured you should rest” I said. I don’t want to bother him.

“ Oh I am completely fine and I am sure you will have a lot of fun with me than roaming in the pack alone”.

I know he is right so I nodded my head and let him lead the way.

It’s evening now and we are heading towards Alpha Dylan’s house as I don’t feel like it is my home. Aron is escorting me to house even though I told him not to.

True to his words it was fun to have a tour with him. He showed me many places and introduced me to many pack members as well. I met Dylan’s sister and other family members. He have one younger sister, Kate who is unlike her brother and is very sweet. We became friends instantly.

I met his uncle, aunt and his cousin brother and sister. They were not so nice and they didn’t like me, I could sense that. I was feeling uncomfortable with them but Aron came to my rescue and took me away from them. He was joking all day and was telling me stories about different things.

The pack land is very big so I couldn’t visit entire pack but I visited all the important places which I should know. He said he will show me other places tomorrow.

We reached the main door of house and turned to face him. “ thank you so much for today, I had a lot of fun” I said genuinely. If I were to roam around in the pack alone I might have lost my way many time.

he smiled brightly at me. “ no need to thank me, I had fun as well. I came to pack after many years so I also wanted to look around. I am glad I got a good company” he said.

He told me that he is one of the best warrior of the pack and was assigned at the borders to protect the pack. He just came today on Alpha Justin's command. On his way to pack house he got attacked by a rough but he killed him.

“ would you like to have some coffee” I asked him. He was with me whole day and I feel like I should at least offer him a drink. He must be tired by now.

“I would love to” he said while grinning like a kid. I opened the door and started walking but stopped looking at the scene in front of me.

I felt my world is crumbling down. Alpha Dylan is kissing a girl. The bag Luna Sarah gave me as gift, which I was holding in my hand fell on the floor creating a loud thud noise.

The noise got their attention and they broke the kiss. His eyes locked with mine. I thought he would feel guilty for his actions but no, he is not. His face is void of any emotions and his eyes are cold.

Tears fell from my eyes at betrayal but I wiped them with my hand. We were staring at each other. I noticed that girl have an arrogant smirk on her face. I thought at least he will now stop doing what he was doing with that girl but he proved me wrong. His next words pierced my heart with a knife.

“ Let’s go to bedroom” he said and pecked her lips looking directly in my eyes. He put his hand on her waist possessively and started walking in his room's direction.

My eyes followed them till they were visible. I wanted to see what my future holds. I wanted to witness how much he hates me and how far he is willing to hurt me. Now I know that there is no hope for our relationship. And I lost the last piece of hope I had that we can work out. He proved me that I am nothing to him.

I shouldn’t get hurt by his actions because he already told me before marriage that he don’t want me but my stupid heart doesn’t understand. I am hurt, deeply.

But I have to bear this because I accepted it. I have to bear this pain for him. His safety is my first concern and that is the reason I agreed to this marriage, to save his life.

“Are you okay” Aron's voice brought me back to my senses. I completely forgot that he is present here. I wiped my tears and looked at him. “ I am fine, why wouldn’t I? We are not even mates” I replied not meeting his gaze.

“Then why these tears” he asked wiping my fresh tears. “I really am fine” I said while controlling my tears. “ it’s just it is..”

“I understand, you don’t need to say anything” he said. His voice is filled with concern and eyes with pity. I hate this look. I don’t like anyone looking at me with pity. It makes me feel pathetic and week.

“do I not deserve at least some respect? Is it too much if I ask for some respect from my so called husband” the words left my mouth even before I could stop.

He is staring at me without saying anything for few seconds then replied “ it is not too much and you deserve respect but your husband is a crazy jerk” he said making me smile.

“ I will make you a coffee” I said as I want to divert my mind. “ you don’t have to, take some rest” he said. I nodded my head and started walking in the direction of stairs after thanking and bidding my goodbye to him.

I took two three steps when I felt a pain in my neck where my mark is. My hand instinctively went to my mark and I felt it is burning. Tears sting my eyes and I sat on the stairs.

The pain is increasing with each second and my heart also started aching. Aron who was still here came running to me and asked “what’s wrong” .

“Its hurting, my mark feels …like..it..is.. burning.” I said with great difficulty. I don’t know why it is hurting like this suddenly.

“Should I call the Alpha” he asked me. I shook my head in no as I don’t want to see him.

“Okay let’s go to pack hospital” he said and tried to help me get up but I couldn’t. The pain is becoming unbearable for me.

“Ahh” I screamed in pain. I can’t bear it anymore and I felt my eyelids getting heavier. I felt two arms carrying me before I lost my consciousness.
