Chapter 8 * The God's Favorite*

Lady Jessica was on her knees. Her eyes subconsciously shifted to Lady Ursula who gave her a cold stare. Her life mattered the most but she had two kids to look after in her family. When Jessica was hesitating to spit the truth out or not, her eyes pulled back on Ursula again.

Ursula did nothing. She simply raised her hand in the air and ran it over her collarbone as a sign of head cutting. Jessica's eyes widened in fear. That silence indicated that Ursula would kill her entire family if she told the truth.

Facing such a critical moment, Jessica had no way left to save her. She bowed on the floor and sucked a deep breath before blurting in a breath,

" It was me..It was my fault..I..I gave her the medicine out of jealousy..My God.. please punish me.."

Killian merely smiled at the lady. Letting out a chuckle, he passed his order calmly,

" Someone! Give Lady Jessica to my wolves! They haven't eaten for a long while."

Lady Jessica begged for mercy, shouting and telling Killian to forgive her. However, Killian was deaf to her pleading and turned eye to the other side. Those who weren't aware of Killian's wolves, they were a batch of rogue Alphas, the most fierce ones without mate bond. That made them the greatest warriors of the werewolves. As the God of the werewolves, Killian owned that batch of rogue werewolves and even treated them like personally. Even the average werewolves didn't dare to get closer with them.

Ursula breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Jessica was dragged away by the guards. In order to preserve her fresh image, she strode downstairs, sounding worried as she ordered the maids,

" Bring out some chicken from the store. I should make some soup for Princess Serena. She is our guest and injured after all."

Ursula's sole intention was to prove that she was the lady of the house, Killian's woman. Serena was just an outsider without any status. When the maids heard her sweet, kind nature towards Serena, they rolled their eyes at her secretly. After all, they all knew that she hated Serena in this place.

Killian also stood up, amusing. Tugging on his coat, he replied before leaving,

" How generous of you, Ursula! Just don't add poison into it."

Ursula's fake soft expression sank as he heard his taunting.

The rumours broke like fire around the castle after they heard about Jessica's harsh punishment. Even servants even witnessed that her dead body was eaten until there was no single bone left. But another new rumour stir in the palace that Serena was the wolf God's new favourite. In order to avenge her pain, he picked up such a painful way to punish someone.

" How Cruel of him!", Serena muttered with a dark face after listening from the head of the maid what Killian did to that healer.

The head maid, Fiona laughed, shaking her head with a sigh,

" You don't know, Princess. The wolf god is far more ruthless than your imagination. None of his mistresses have survived in the past except Lady Ursula. I suggest you behave well around him. "

Serena shrugged, looking blank on expression,

" What does it have to do with me?I am not his mistress anyways..I don't even know who I am in this place."

Fiona replied with a grin, placing oil on her shoulders,

" But he likes you clearly. Lord will never keep someone unless he likes the person truly. I don't know about the Mistress position but you definitely have value in his heart."

Serena bit her lips together silently. If he really punished the maid for her, should she go and say thanks to him?

Serena was doubtful in her heart. After the maid left passing her advice, Serena waited on the bed in case Killian appeared in her home. It was almost midnight and there was no sign of Killian.

She wasn't even his mistress, why would he come to her room?

Serena's heart sank deeper at these thoughts. Then, she decided to find him on her own. Getting out of the room, she saw that the entire quarter was empty as everyone went to bed. Picking up the lantern from the wall, she started walking towards a random direction in case she found him or anyone to ask where Killian lived at night.

Serena always learnt to be grateful. So, she thought that it was necessary to give him a proper thanks. After walking for a long while, Serena had no idea that she had left the guest quarter.

The further, she walked forward, the surroundings around her began to turn dark and gloomy. She felt a chill running through her spine when she saw the darkness around. Just when she thought of returning, a deep male voice stopped her track,

" Are you looking for food?"

Serena jumped off in shock and dropped the lantern on the floor accidentally. As a result, it became incredibly dark and she couldn't see the man standing in front of her. All she could see was a bare, muscular body, barely visible from the light of the moon, slipping past on the corridor.

She stammered, staggering backwards,

" I...I mean..who..who are you? What.. what food? I am not... looking for food..."

In her kingdom, they barely let her eat which caused her to pick up the bad habit of eating less always. The man didn't say anything for a while as if he was observing her closely. After a short while, he suggested in a gentle voice, sounding deep and mysterious,

" I am very hungry and was looking for my food. Can you help me?"

Serena didn't know why she got a strange vibe from this man. However, he was really hungry. How could she hurt someone with her words? Although she was hesitating, she agreed to help the man to find his food in the darkness.
