Chapter 6 New Discovery

1725 Words
Laura's POV As Arthur and I head to the red tower, I can't help but notice members of the pack are casting curious looks on us. I wasn't used to being the focus of attention. For the record, I kept a low profile in school to avoid trouble. It's true that being ignored by people sometimes hurts one's feelings since it makes you feel you're insignificant. You're not acknowledged. You are nobody. Yet, if you may see this thing from another angle, well, you may understand you are benefiting from others' neglect in some cases. For example, when my teachers asked if there were any volunteers who would like to answer the question. No one responded to her, and she had to pick someone randomly. It never occurred to her to call me, and for me, that was a relief. Now I am pulling attention, and it feels so f*****g awkward. "Why are they looking at us?" I whisper to Arthur while quickening my pace to catch him. I can't help but notice that he is acting against my previous depiction of him. As a Gamma, Arthur is supposed to be observant, considerate, patient, and caring, which means he should notice our different paces and slow down to wait for me. But he didn't. I assume he did it on purpose to prove that I know nothing about him despite the fact that I am the author who created him. "You wouldn't want to know what is on their mind." Arthur glimpses in their direction and says, "Just ignore them." "I am not used to being scrutinized. The way they look at us makes me uncomfortable." I mutter. "Then walk faster." Arthur replies as he pulls me to the entrance, "When they're out of your sight, you shall feel better." "It truly works." I beam at him, "You're so smart." "Or maybe your intelligence is under average level." he remarks. I gulp at his reply and glare at him, "You're so rude." He smirks and is about to say something when a figure appears near the stairs. The light is too dim, and I can barely tell who it is. Also alerted, Arthur steps forward and shields me. He raises his hand in the air, signaling me to keep quiet and stop, which I obey. We wait for a while, and the figure starts to hum to himself as he walks off the dark. As his face is exposed to the light, I recognize him immediately, for his appearance resembles Arthur so much that for a moment, I doubt if he is a clone. "Peter, what are you doing here?" Arthur asks, making his little brother jump a little. "f**k! You spooked me." Peter shouts and soon stops complaining and grins at Arthur, "I have some errands to run. What about you, brother? No offense but I don't think you're here to borrow books, for we both know you have little interest in reading…" The chatterbox stops as he glances over Arthur's shoulder and notices my existence. Peter widens his eyes, utterly shocked. He gazes at me and doesn't blink his eyes. It reminds me of my visit to the local scientific museum. Back then, I was in primary school, and the first time I saw an alien model, I forgot to blink. "Hi," I force a smile and greet Peter, hoping to make him come back to Earth so that he can stop staring at me as if I were an alien from outer space. "Hi," Peter snaps out his thought. He blinks, and his eyes are filled with confusion. He swings his gaze between his brother and me and eventually decides to let his eyes linger on me, "Agnes, I didn't expect to see you here. Shouldn't you be in the chamber and prepare yourself for the ceremony? What are you doing here…" He pauses, hesitating if he should continue, and finally decides to add, "With my brother?" "It is complicated. I will explain to you later." Arthur says, and he turns to me, "You can go and get your pen now. It is on the second floor." "Thank you." I say and am about to head upstairs when Peter calls from behind. "Hold on a sec," Peter shouts in surprise, "What pen are you looking for? I am here to find a pen, too." "What are you talking about?" "Well, Judy pleaded with me to do her a favor…." "I told you not to make deals with those omegas," Arthur snaps. "I wasn't!" Peter retorts, "I didn't make a deal with her. I went to the kitchen this morning to grab some food, and I ran into Judy. And you know what she was doing? Crying. She cried so hard. f**k, man, she scared the s**t out of me. I know the laddie has been mistreated, but I never saw her cry. So I asked what happened, and she told me to f**k off. Can you believe that such words come out of an Omega's mouth? From Judy Green? I thought she must be in a bad mood, and I'd better not show excessive concern to women……You see, I did keep your advice in mind, Arthur." "What a good learner," Arthur rolls his eyes and observes sardonically. "Of course I am. I am always open to suggestions," Peter smiles brightly. It seems to me that he doesn't sense the sarcasm in Arthur's tone and truly takes Arthur's words as a compliment. To secure his merry, I decide I'd better not point out the truth for him. "Go on. What happened then?" asks Arthur. "So I said to Judy that I would leave her alone and mind my own business. I was taking my heels to the exit when she suddenly jumped on me and begged me to help her. She said she was sorry for being so rude to me. She was trapped, and she felt desperate. At first, I thought she was making a comparison or something, exaggerating that her life didn't go well. But she said she wasn't using a comparison. She was literally trapped in Judy's body. You're absolutely right, Arthur. Women are all crazy animals. Lunatic." Peter mutters, and he continues, "I thought she was drunk, but I couldn't smell any evident scent from her. So I said alright if you're not Judy, who are you? And guess what she said?" Peter glimpse at me and laughs, "She claimed that she was you, Agnes Garcia. I found it hilarious, and I started laughing, which angered her so much. She swore that she would have me beheaded. To be honest, man, the omega has dexterity in mimicking. I thought she must be mentally unstable due to jealousy. After all, you're carrying Alpha Leon's child, and you will soon be titled as the Luna of our pack. It is understandable that girls envy you and want to become you." Peter concludes and sighs, "I prompt to take Judy to Hera, hoping our pack doctor can free her from the delusion, but the omega didn't believe she was mentally ill. Then she cried again. Man, I just couldn't stand seeing women cry. So I asked her what I could do for her. She stopped sobbing immediately and asked me to fetch her a pen in the red tower, which is why I am here. It sounds unbelievable, right? But it is real. She even offered to give me a b*****b to reward me, but I declined her proposal and told her I would bring the pen for her without charge. I did want to get laid, but I kept your word in mind. Last time you caught Agnes straddling on me, I was beaten up……" Peter grimaces, "I learned the lesson through pain." "Glad to hear that," Arthur notes coldly. "Speaking of which, why the f**k did you jump on me and invite my brother to do a threesome, Agnes?" Peter looks at me, demanding an answer. "I wasn't thinking straight." I shiver, hiding my face behind my hands, "I must be drunk." "You didn't smell like you're drunk." He challenges. "Then I must be crazy. Mentally unstable. Maybe I got jealous when I saw Alpha Leon talking with other wolves. That's why I wanted to cheat on him." I offer a guess. "I see." Peter nods and grins at Arthur, "You heard what Agnes said. I was innocent, and I shouldn't take the blame. It was she who seduced me first and sat on my lap, kissed me, and ground against me. It was natural to feel aroused when a beauty keeps moaning your name and inviting you to take her hard." "Stop." I cover my ears, "I don't want to hear more details." "You're shy now," Peter laughs as he steps closer and teases, "You weren't shy when you ran your hands on my chest." I blush fiercely and have no idea how to respond. As I feel trapped, Arthur pushes Peter aside and states, "Enough. Agnes will soon be our Luna, and you should show her some respect." "Everyone has a reason to ask me to respect her except you, brother. This is f*****g incredible." Peter exclaims, "Look at your stance; it seems to me that you're protecting her. What happened? Why did you suddenly forgive your sworn enemy?" "A werewolf's sworn enemy should be the vampire." I chime in. "I agree. But that's how Arthur called you." Peter drawls, "Specifically, the most obnoxious and unforgivable she-wolf." "That's harsh." I frown. "Oh, stop pretending that you're a victim. You two are level-pegging when it comes to coin terms to humiliate each other." Peter laughs merrily. "What did she call me behind my back?" Arthur narrows his eyes. My breath hitches as Peter gives me an assuring smile and then says, "Sorry, brother, I won't rat her out. You may ask her yourself." "Whatever terms I coined before, I won't use it on you any longer." I raise my hand in the air, "I promise. Am I allowed to leave and grab the pen, my dearest Arthur?" Peter's jaw drops, and Arthur flushes fiercely. I laugh and run upstairs. Even with my back to him, I can sense his glare. His gaze must be very intense. It burns like fire and I wonder if it still springs from hatred.
