Episode 2

Angel's POV I remained at a spot, as I recalled the text I had received earlier, did he really send it just for me to catch him cheating and then he abandoned me? Or was this all one big mistake? Like what was I missing? I pondered. Tyson's eyes widened in shock as he quickly scrambled away from the woman beside him. His sudden movement allowed me to see her face clearly for the first time. My heart dropped, and I stumbled backwards. I blinked once, twice, just to be sure I saw clearly. “Dawn?!” I whispered hoarsely, my voice barely audible. I prayed my eyes were deceiving me. “Why…how…what…” My mind spun with countless questions as I tried to understand how my own sister could betray me like this. Dawn, unfazed by my presence, rolled her eyes dramatically and let out a loud sigh. She pulled the duvet up, covering herself as she casually reclined on the bed, acting as if she was merely waiting for me to leave so she could continue having her fun. Meanwhile, Tyson fumbled hastily for his pants. “What are you doing here, Angel?” He asked, his tone sharp. “Shouldn’t you be busy with wedding preparations? Like picking up your dress or something?” I stared at him, stunned by the audacity of his words. “Are you serious right now?” I seethed, my voice trembling with fury, fists clenched tightly at my sides. “Our wedding? The same wedding you’re pretending to care about while going behind my back to screw my sister—” “Half-sister,” Dawn interjected coolly, cutting me off mid-sentence. “Are you serious right now?” I turned to her, my anger boiling over. “Half-sister or not, you knew he was my fiancé! And we are getting married soon, and you choose to betray me like this?” I shouted, my voice cracking with rage. Dawn shrugged, her expression indifferent. “No hard feelings, Angel,” she said in a casual tone that made my blood boil. “You’re blowing this way out of proportion. It’s not like you’re married yet. I don’t see why you’re making such a big deal out of it.” My jaw dropped in disbelief. “A big deal?” I repeated, my voice laced with fury. “You think this is nothing? You think I’m overreacting?” I let out a bitter laugh. “Fine. Let me show you what overreacting looks like.” Without thinking, I lunged at her, my hands reaching out, ready to claw at her smug face and leave a mark she’d never forget. But just as I was about to strike, I felt a strong grip pull me back, stopping me mid-attack. Tyson held me firmly, his arms locking me in place as I thrashed against his grip. “Let me go!” I screamed, my voice echoing off the walls, but he remained unmoved, his expression irritatingly calm. “Angel, calm down, please. We can handle this like adults,” he said, but I had reached my breaking point and was done settling things as adults, especially when it concerned Dawn. From when I could remember, Dawn had always been in a silent competition with me. She had always resented me for no reason, cunningly stealing my shine and what was mine. It was subtle at first, but as we grew older her jealousy became impossible to ignore. “If you want to handle this like adults, Tyson,” I said through gritted teeth, my voice low and firm, “then start by throwing the w***e out.” Dawn let out a soft chuckle, then louder, her laughter echoing through the room. It was cruel, mocking, designed to provoke me. But I refused to fall into her trap and give her satisfaction. “Out of all the men in this city, Dawn,” I said, my voice trembling with restrained fury, “it had to be mine? Why? What could you possibly gain from this?” A sly smile appeared on her face. “because he wants me to,” she snickered. “But he's been too hesitant to let you know. I guess the lover boy doesn't want to hurt your precious little feelings.” She said casually and mockingly. Her words hit me like a slap. Pulling myself away from him, stumbling slightly as I turned to face him. “What is she talking about?” I demanded, my voice cracking with pain. I placed my hand over his mouth as he opened it to speak. “No,” I whispered sharply, cutting him off. “How long has this been going on?” My teeth sank into my bottom lip as I fought back the tears threatening to spill over. He avoided my eyes, his silence louder than any confession. My heart shattered, and I bit down hard on my lip, desperate to hold back the tears. I needed answers, but more than that, I needed to know if the man standing before me had ever truly loved me—or if it had all been a lie. “Angel, this isn’t important right now,” Tyson said, his voice tense, clearly hoping to change the conversation. I snapped my head toward him, my glare sharp enough to cut. “You don’t get to decide what’s important,” I shouted, my voice trembling with anger and pain. “Not after what you’ve done.” “A year and six months,” Dawn chimed in, her voice cold and indifferent, as if she were discussing the weather. “It’s been a year and six months, Angel. And, honestly, they’ve been the best one year six months of our lives.” She let out a soft chuckle, her amusement a knife in my heart. “But will knowing that really change anything?” I stared at her, then at Tyson, who refused to meet my eyes. Dawn’s smug smile stretched across her face, victorious and mocking. She wanted me to break. She wanted me to crumble under the weight of her betrayal. But I wasn’t going to give her the satisfaction she desperately sought. Taking a deep breath, I braced myself and asked a question that I regretted asking instantly. “Between the both of us, whom do you choose?” The question escaped my lips, raw and desperate before I could stop it. I hated myself for asking, but the truth was undeniable—I couldn’t let Tyson go. My heart clung to the man I thought I knew, and if Dawn was the obstacle, I was ready to swallow my pride and fight for him. “What?” Tyson’s eyes widened, confusion flickering across his face. He stared at me as if he hadn’t heard me correctly. I reached for his hands, gently clasping them, my fingers trembling against his skin. “I know how manipulative she can be,” I whispered, forcing my voice to steady. “I’m willing to give you another chance. I’ll forgive everything—just tell her it’s over. Tell her you chose me and that you’ll never leave me.” The room fell into a heavy, suffocating silence. Every second he hesitated, it felt like a dagger twisting deeper. Why was he even thinking? He should be happy at this chance. I was offering him a way out, a clean slate. Yet, the longer the silence dragged, the clearer the truth became. Tyson glanced at Dawn, then back at me. The indecision in his eyes was gone, replaced by something I recognised all too well—regret. “I’m sorry,” he finally whispered, his voice barely audible, but the words were deafening. The rejection hit me like a tidal wave, I had lost and lost to Dawn, again. But this time, it was the worst kind of loss—the one I never saw coming. I swallowed hard, the lump in my throat growing painful, as I forced myself to stand tall despite what had just happened. I took a deep breath, then another, trying to keep the tears at bay. But it was no use. Hot, stinging tears spilt down my cheeks, uncontrollably. This was it. The end of everything I thought I knew, and the beginning of a new, painful reality. ********* Morning came too soon, the sunlight piercing through the curtains and straight into my eyes. The door creaked open, the sound slicing through the silence that lingered in the room. I didn't even bother to look up. The stiletto heels clicking against the floor were enough to tell me who it was. Julie. She must have been worried since she didn't get to hear from me the rest of yesterday. “God, you look like hell,” Julie said, her voice laced with concern and frustration. She stood at the foot of my bed, arms crossed over her chest, her perfectly manicured nails tapping impatiently against her elbow. I groaned, turning onto my side and burying my face in the pillow to block out the sunlight that pierced through my eyelids. “What do you want?” I muttered, my voice hoarse “What do I want?” Julie repeated, stepping forward and yanking the curtains open with force. The room flooded with harsh light, making my eyes squint in pain. “You scared the hell out of me, you know that? I called you and texted you, but there was nothing. Then I show up here and find you in this mess?” I didn't give a response and actually didn't care about a thing in this world. As the thought of Tyson's betrayal fluffed my mind. “Come on, sit up and tell me what happened. Tyson wouldn’t…” “Don’t you dare say his name!” I snapped, my voice sharper than I meant, sending a chill down Julie’s spine. Julie blinked slowly, clearly surprised by my outburst. She took a cautious step forward, sitting at the edge of the bed, her gaze fixed on me. “What happened yesterday?” she asked, her voice gentle now as if she were afraid I might break into pieces at any moment. Hot tears rolled down my cheeks and the pain in my chest felt fresh again, as I remembered. “I caught him in bed with my sister, Dawn,” I said, my voice shaking. The anger within me burned bright, but I could only cry. “And when I confronted them, I found out they’ve been having an affair for over a year and six months now. Can you believe that? A few months after we started dating. The worst part? He chose her over me.” Julie’s eyes widened in disbelief, her mouth hanging open momentarily. “Dawn is having an affair with your fiancé? Is she insane?” she exclaimed, her voice a mixture of shock and outrage. “They both are,” I muttered bitterly, wiping my eyes in frustration. The tears wouldn’t stop, and the hurt felt like it would swallow me whole. “So, what are you going to do about it?” Julie asked her tone now hard, filled with anger and resentment. “I don’t know," I muttered, my head spinning, my mind too clouded to form a plan. “We can’t just let this slide, Angel. They have to pay for this betrayal. Dawn has hurt you more times than I can count, but this one? This one she’s gone too far. And Tyson? Well, we’ll have to deal with him first,” Julie said, her voice hardening as if she were already planning her next steps. I looked at her, frustration building. “What do you suggest I do? I can’t think of anything right now. All I know is that I want them to suffer. You know who Tyson’s dad is, right? What can I even do?” I felt trapped in my anger as if there was no way out of this mess. Julie tapped her feet lightly on the floor, deep in thought, “Men are scum, and all I want to do is get rid of them all.” she muttered beneath her breath, but I could hear her clearly, and with that, an idea formed in my mind.
