Chapter #2

"Oh s**t," Barrett said below his breath, and I stood up from the stool and looked around; my eyes widening when l saw who walked in. There was at least 5 tall men who just walked in, followed by 2 girls; all with either annoyed or angered expressions. The one in the very front was Buffy, had golden coloured hair with the tips a light brown, their eyes matching their hair with an extra glow to it. Their sharp jawline stood out from a crowded room, and very light freckles all alone their nose that was barely visible due to their tanned skin colour. The scent was getting stronger when those people walked towards the front of the room, and I turned towards Barrett to see he was still staring at the group. "Who are they?" I asked, Barrett shaking his head and looked over in my direction. His eyes didn't meet mine, but his body spoke to me. I remained silent as Oakley focused his attention back on the group that walked in, inhaled slowly. "It's The lunar Pack." he said quietly, My heart nearly stopped in my chest and my breath hitching. I already started to feel my palms become sweaty as I turned my head back to look at the group; The lunar Pack walk towards a stage in the front of the room. I grabbed hold of Barrett's wrist and forced us both forward, dodging past people in the crowds as they all started whispering to each other...what are they doing here...?"...it's Arsen Trude The most dangerous wolf Leader ever..."...The lunar Pack looks like they got more intelligent..." up with Arsen..."...I feel bad for the poor mate that has to end up with him. "Ella, you okay..? I jumped and quickly looked over at Barrett, seeing his attention was on me. I saw he looked worried, his lip poking out and his chin bouncing slightly in a mute whimper with his blue eyes reading my face closely. I tried nodding my head to tell him I was okay, but it only ended up with me looking at him with a blank expression. I shifted my attention back towards The lunar Pack, seeing they were all looking through the crowd; as if they were searching for someone. "Who's the guy with the golden eyes?" I asked Barrett quietly, but caught the attention of someone else who was beside me. They looked at me with worry all over their face and their eyes bugging out of their head. I recognize this person from my studies. They weren't in many of my classes, but the ones I do remember were Physical Education and Wolf Transformation History. In that class, we all learned about the most dangerous Pack in existence: The lunar Pack. "You mean you don't know?" the person asked me and I shook my head. "That's Arsen Trude. The fearful Alpha of The Lunar Pack." My breath hitched once again, and I finally looked back up at the Pack to see the Alpha, Arsen, glossing his golden eyes through the crowd slowly. I could hear my own heart pounding in my ears as Arsen's eyes shifted right where I was standing. I felt frozen. I couldn't even move my own eyes if I wanted to, bit the stare given off by Arsen nearly made me run out of the building. That's when I sensed that smell again. Lilac. It was coming from him. Oh no. No no no no no! "Ladies and Gentleman, may I please have your attention?" someone from up on the stage called out, and I saw it was an older man with a grey beard introducing the audience. I quickly looked away from Arsen and stared at the man in front of the audience. "Let us welcome The lunar Pack to our own special Ceremony. Give these brave, faithful Leaders the applause they deserve." On cue, a roar of applause erupted in the room, while me and barrett only stared at the Pack before us with little to no intention. The lunar Pack still looked as if they had no interest in anyone, their eyes still glazing over the crowd; Arsen's eyes still on me. I tried not making eye contact, huddling behind Barrett as he looked down at me with confusion. "It's him," I whispered as the man up front started talking after the crowd calmed down. I looked into Barrett's eyes for a moment, before looking back over at Arsen ; seeing his gaze never left me. I felt scared, uncomfortable, and vulnerable. "Who?" Barrett asked me calmly. I didn't look back up at Barrett but only faced Arsen the entire time. Barrett looked in the direction I was facing, and I could hear his heart beating louder in his chest. "My mate' I whispered as a whimper left me. Barrett wrapped his arm around my shoulder as I still felt the heavy eyes of Arsen on me. " Arsen True. H-He's my mate." "Wh-What!?" Barrett said almost too loudly, some heads turning in our direction as I looked back up at Barrett. "That...That can't be right." I didn't even realiase what was going on around me as the Ceremony kept going forward, but apparently the man up front told all the wolves to find their mates. And I wanted to keep away from mine. Everyone was sniffing the air and looking in all different directions, Barrett taking me by the shoulder and pulled me out of the crowd. I brushed my hair from my face and stood against the bar with Barrett beside me, his hand resting on my back. "What do I do, Barrett?" I asked, twisting my necklace between my fingers while everyone else in the room chatted and spoke with their mates. "My mate is an Alpha. And not just any Alpha, but the Alpha of the most dangerous Pack in history." "I wish I could say something to help you, Ella," he said soothingly, and I looked up at him slowly. "But he is your mate. I can't defend you with him around." "But you said you'd protect me" I said with a tiny growl. "No matter what, you said you'd protect me." "Ella, I'm an Delta" he said with a head shake. "But I stand no chance against an Alpha. If I tried protecting you with him around, he'd kill me." "Barrett, plea-"' I tried saying, but Barrett stuck his nose in the air and looked around. He sniffed and sniffed, his head turning towards a group with one female wearing a long red dress. Her hair was up in a tight bun, a thick layer of make-up all over her face. He started walking towards her, and I tried grabbing at his wrist to stop him. "Barrett, don't you- Gah! Stupid boys." I watched as Barrett wandered towards the girl, and I sighed and rested my head against my palm. Nothing could get any worse, could it? "Mine" I hear behind me, my heart jumping and my face lost its colour, as I looked up and kept my back towards the voice. I knew it was him. Arsen. The unsteady beat of my own heart was starting to overpower me, as I slowly looked behind me to come face to face with the voice. His golden coloured eyes stared deeply into my light brown orbs, his short spiky matching hair perfectly aligned on his head. I bit the inside of my cheek, staring fearfully at the man before me, as he Leaned their head closer towards mine. I tried backing up, but my back reached the bar and stopped me abruptly, Arsen's face so close to mine that I could read you all the details anyone could see; but never tell the tales. I squeezed my eyes shut in fear, hearing Arsen sniff my neck and shoulder as if he has never sensed anything in his life. "You're mine" he said coldly as he looked back up at me, but my eyes remained shut. I whimpered when I felt his strong hands grab under my jaw, my eyes shooting open as I stared deep into his golden eyes. "Don't ignore me!" he growled, and I cried out and clawed at the bar as his grip got tighter. My lip shivered as Arsen's eyes changed slightly to a more red color, a growl escaping him as he pulled me forward. I yelped when he roughly grabbed hold of my wrist and dragged me away from the it, my weak strength trying to fight back but to no avail. I heard whimpering from my right, and I looked over and Barrett was watching me with a saddened look on his face. The woman that he sniffed out earlier was by his side, her hands clinging against his arms as Arsen pulled me completely out of the building. The night air brushed against my skin as Arsen pulled me towards the steps outside, nearly tripping and falling a few times with each tug on my arm. My fingers were starting to turn purple as I leaned over and had to hold onto Arsen's arm to prevent myself from falling. I moved a piece of my hair from out of my eyes, just as a black car pulled up to where I and Arsen were standing. I knew I was breathing heavily; Arsen not caring, as the door to the car opened on the driver's side to reveal a tall man with a chubby face and a thick waist. He looked at me with glee until his attention went towards Arsen. " Omega?" he asked, Arsen growling and yanking me forward. "I told you not to speak unless spoken too, Marken." Arsen said with a snarl, the thick guy; Marken, quickly rounding the car and towards the passengers seats in the very back. "Sorry Sir," Marken said with a studded, opening up the passenger side door and Arsen pushed me towards it. I tried fighting once again, but it only resulted in Arsen's jaw tightening as he shoved me into the car. l cried out when my head smacked against leather seats and the door closed. I looked up and saw two figures standing outside for a few moments, before one of then quickly rounded the car again while the other slowly walked towards the front. I couldn't see them entering the car, but I could hear them. I then felt the car moving forward, and I tried at the door to see if I could open it, but the door wouldn't open. I was stuck in this car with the most dangerous Alpha in history. My Alpha. My mate. I sat back against the seats and looked out the window, watching as the building where the Ceremony took place fly past my view. I was now no longer Ella Reja. I watched as the car pulled up to a large mansion after a 45 minute drive, the dark blue colored sky making the mansion look almost ominous. I looked at the place in awe, never before seeing something like this in my Pack. The mansion had at least 4 stories to it, and dozens of rooms on each floor, a large front yard and possibly a large backyard. Long, polished, elegant stairs welcomed anyone who dropped by at the mansion with a spark of exhilaration, and beautifully trimmed bushes stood out front and gently danced with the light wind that blew on by. I felt the car stop, hearing muffled conversations that I couldn't catch a hold of, as the sound of the front doors opening was heard. I felt my heart nearly sink down to my stomach as I saw the door on my side open to reveal a pair of shiny golden eyes staring down at me. Arsen roughly grabbed my wrist once again, it being bruised from his harsh grip earlier, and pulled me out of the car and slammed it behind me. "I suggest you be gentle with this one, Alpha," Marken said from the other side of the car, and I turned over and saw Arsen looking at him with a threatening look on his face. "I mean, don't you agree? After what happened with-" "If you wish to not have your funeral earlier, I suggest; Marken, that you shut your trap," Arsen growled, and I whimpered at the tone in his voice as I watched Marken bow his head. Arsen kept his attention on Marken for quite some time, before he huffed and kept moving forward; dragging me along side him in the process. He quickly pulled us up the stairs, my heels clacking underneath the beautiful material, as I was shoved towards the front door with aggression. Arsen handled with the knob on the door until he finally got it open, and shoved me into the dark house and walked in after me. I looked back over at him and watched as he shut the door behind him, his back facing towards me as the lights suddenly turned on. I jumped and quickly turned around when I heard footsteps walking behind me, being greeted with a figure that was roughly around the same height as Arsen. They had light hair with green eyes and their skin was whiter than even mine was. "Welcome home, Alpha." the person said, their voice is rather deeper than Arsen's. "I told you to not come downstairs until I said so, Kaleb," Arsen hissed, a whimper leaving the man, Kaleb, before me. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some business to attend to." Arsen's grip on my wrist grew twice as rough as he dragged me towards a flight of stairs on the left from where we entered, a second pair of the same stairs on the opposite side of the room and made of the same material as the stairs outside. The entrance to the place was large and generous, a gigantic crystal chandelier hanging around 10 feet in the air when I walked inside. I lifted the skirt of my dress up to help me walk up the mountain of stairs that led to the second floor, and I was greeted with long and narrow hallways provided by the pitch black from the night skies; dozens of doors along one section of the hall, and at the very end of the right side was a larger room that I couldn't really see that well. "Come on!" Arsen growled, dragging me towards another flight of stairs that led up to another floor of the mansion. I noticed that no lights were on in the mansion, not even outside the mansion when l first arrived, and I was being dragged through the darkness without knowing where l was going. We reached the third floor and I expected Arsen dragged me towards the very top to the final floor, but instead he led me down another long and narrow hallway that caused us to pass by dozens of other rooms. We turned a corner and more rooms were shown, and I looked over to my left to see a large opening outside all the other rooms that had tables and chairs set up, dozens of hanging lights and nicely decorated walls and floors; making this place the real deal. I've heard about The lunar Pack's massive and inconceivable mansion, knowing that this place was one of the biggest homes for any Pack ever existed, but I never thought l'd be someone to come by and actually live in this mansion. I had a gut feeling that I was going to get lost in this mansion more times to make it embarrassing, but if that's what it takes, oh well. "This way" Arsen kept hold of my wrist, as He stood in front of a door halfway down the hall that had a light outside it and a painting of what looked like....a wolf with glowing green eyes like mine. I looked up at the picture to see that it looked almost like I have seen it before but where? and a golden tag on the bottom reading, 'Loving memory of you'. Arsen opened the door when I looked back over at it, the door made of a fine wood that Looked polished and clean. For the first time since we met, Arsen released my wrist as he gestured me into the room, and I looked around to see it was beautiful. The floors were covered with a beautiful layer of wood, I stepped deeper into the room, looking around carefully and taking in the fact that this room alone was larger than my entire house back in my old Pack. "This is where you'll be staying" Arsen said, and I turned towards him to see he was leaning against the door frame, but his face stood towards the floor with his hands in his pockets. "Until you are ready for mating, this will be your room." I don't want to be here with him and I can't mate with him. I am not a fully transformed wolf. I wanted to tell him that but I completely lost my ability to speak. He turned back towards me quickly, his eyes shooting daggers at me. "And whatever you do," he started, pointing his long finger at me as his voice grew deeper. "Don't go out without my permission." "Why?" I asked, causing a growl to escape Arsen and I whimpered and lowered my head in fear. "Don't," was all he said, before he grabbed hold on the door once again and slammed it shut, causing me to jump and rub my hands against my arms. I looked back up at the door to see he was gone, and it was just me inside the large room at the very center of its heart. I slowly looked around after I took a breather of what just happened, seeing that the walls were a light beige color with a beautiful pattern of flowers and leaves sprouting from the outlines on the floor. A small, white carpet was right in front of the lovely bed and a desk with a stand facing towards the window which added more life to the room. I sighed and walked towards the window and looked out it, seeing; very faintly, the skylights from the Ceremony building off in the distance. My heart wrenched as I realized how close both this Pack and my own Pack were, as I opened up the window and felt a sudden blast of cool air strike my bare chest and cause my hair to whip behind me. I inhaled as I kept my eyes fresh on the lights in the background, faintly hearing the sounds of a howl in the distance. My lip quivered as I felt a tear fall from my face, hoping that howl was of my dearest friend Barrett; the friend I might never see again. I wrapped my hands around the bars, a cold feeling coming over me as the bars burned at my hands from the nightly air, and I leaned closer towards the bars with my eyes still locked on the lights in the distance. I felt like a prisoner. I felt locked away. I felt like I was never going to see any hope for the rest of my days. I feel just like a character in one of my mother's favorite stories she read as a pup, a story she told me before she passed away. I felt myself drift away from the freedom I thought I had while back at The Nightwalker Pack, finding that I never really had much freedom and respect either way. My hand drifted over to the necklace wrapped around my neck, the necklace I never take off because of the faithful memory of my mother so long ago. And that is how I knew the end was here. And I let out a howl into the dark, oblivion night.
