Between fearing the leopard, the cold that I was feeling, the humidity that lingered after the storm, the agony of the pain all over my body, the preoccupation of having killed a person and the dread of falling asleep and having the rebels find me, I did not sleep much. In addition, my entire body hurt, especially my knee and my back. As soon as there was a little light in the forest I woke up. I took a piece of meat from the backpack and I only ate the exterior which was more braised than the rest, and that had a revolting taste of overused coal. The center was completely raw and I was incapable of swallowing it. That was kind of funny, after having eaten larvae I couldn't bring myself to eat
