DAY 23 HOW I FOUND THE MINES I woke up with a clear head and ready to continue my journey towards my home. The fatigue from the exertion of the previous day made me sleep like a log. I ate half of what I had left of my smoked meat. It was starting to spoil, it began to have a strange color and flavor and I would have to finish it at noon. I picked up everything and left the camp as it was before I came. Later, once I got oriented in the direction I had to take, I freshened up in the stream that had accompanied me these two days past and that was separating from my path. I drank abundantly and I filled up my bottle of water. I took a last look at my serpentine travel companion and I returned to the daily walking routine.
