CATHERINE'S P.O.V
"Mom, I'm here. What is important that you need to tell me?" I sighed immediately after I got to
the house.
The whole family was gathered at the dining table, Jessica had her hand intertwined with
Andrew's. I snorted as I realized she was just trying to get me jealous but I was bigger
than that, though it hurt a little.
"So, now that your younger sister has gotten married..." Began with a smile on her
face, "...I think it's also time that you get married."
What! I blinked in shock.
"What are you saying?" I asked because I was confused.
"I'm saying, you should also get married. You are not getting any younger."
"Mom, I was supposed to get married if it weren't for the fact that my fiance cheated on
me and decided to marry my sister," I argued.
"Yes, yes, we know honey." Mom rolled her eyes and waved her hands in my face. "But you
see they were meant for each other and it would be a waste if you were being too petty to
let them be together."
I stared, dumbfounded, "Petty? Me? How?"
Dad cleared his throat, "That's not what we are here for Catherine. Get ready. You are
getting married to a friend of mine, a very wealthy one. He asked that you marry him and
we readily agreed. I'm sure he will treat you well."
I immediately stood up in anger.
"No, I'm not getting married to any friend of your dad. How could you suggest such a
thing?"
I knew that any friend of Dad had to be an old person. How could they do this?
"I'm leaving, tell that friend of yours that I am not interested in being his wife."
I made to leave the dining room but suddenly Andrew blocked my way. I glared at him,
hatred in my eyes.
"Move away." I gritted with clenched teeth.
He crossed his hands on his chest and smirked.
"No, I can't. You will stay here until he comes."
"Who comes?"
"Your husband, my dear." Momanswered.
My eyes widened in alarm.
"No way, you can't keep me here against my will. I don't want to get married."
"But I will treat you well sugar."
I heard a raspy voice and I saw that an old man in his sixties was walking towards us
with four men in black suits behind him. He was bald and had a toothy grin on his
weathered face. Is this the man they wanted me to marry? I moved backward slowly,
watching him to make sure no one came near me.
"Who are you?"
The man ambled forward and sat on one of the dining chairs, he grinned at me showing
his brown teeth. I shuddered in repulsion.
"I'm Harry Mort, your new husband."
Blegh! I almost gagged.
I glared at him and then shook my head.
"Well, I'm sorry Mr Harry, whatever arrangement you had with my parents is void
because I do not accept to marry you."Momfrownedd "Catherine, do not speak that way to your husband."
"He is not my husband."
Mr Harry grinned as he stared at me. His eyes shone with interest, I felt so disgusted.
"Don't worry, I like her, she is feisty. I need some spice in my life anyway."
Can anyone believe this, this man was old enough to be my grandfather. Dad is even
younger than he is, why would my parents agree to this?
"Mom, Dad. Do you hate me so much that you want to get rid of me this badly? Am I even
your daughter? First, are you guys letting Jessica take my fiance and now you want me to
marry a man old enough to be my grandfather?.... Why?" my voice broke as I finished
speaking, tears walked up in my eyes and dropped down to my cheeks.
"Come on Catherine, Mom and Dad just want the best for you. He will treat you well okay."
I glared at the owner of the voice. Jessica was somber as she stared at me with pity
while her lower lips trembled.
"You see Cathy, your sister knows that we only have your interest at heart. She still cares
about you." Mom added.
"Ha!" I couldn't help chuckling bitterly. Of course, I would become the villain and she would
be the victim.
"It's true Catherine, I care about you." She looked shyly at Andrew, "If I wasn't already
married to Andrew I would love to take your place but I can't."
"Enough of all these chatterings, I have spent a lot just to have you and you are not
escaping my grasp, little girl. Men!"
"Yes sir!"
"Take her away and bring her into my car," he ordered as he stood up.
"Mom, you sold me?" I shrieked madly.
"How could you? I your daughter, why treat me like a commodity?"
"It's for your good and the good of our family sweetie." She told me with a smile
on her face, clearly not ashamed of what she had just done.
Before I knew it, I was surrounded by the four large men, I glanced warily at them.
"Stay away from, don't touch me." I yelled as I tried to run but I was caught and dragged
away while struggling helplessly.
"Let me go! Take your hands off me."
"Goodbye Catherine, we will come visit sometime." Jessica chuckled as she waved at
me. Fury lanced through my chest. I wasn't going to go without a fight.
"Let go!" I immediately kicked one on his crouch then punched another behind me on his
face. Temporarily freed, I frenziedly ran to the kitchen where I took a sharp cutting knife and
brandished it at them, I'm sure I looked like a mad woman.
"Catherine, what has gotten over you?" Dad yelled in anger, his veins popped out as they
all surrounded me.
"I won't let you take me."
"Honey you have to go with him, you have no choice."
I opened my mouth to reply but then a deep voice suddenly spoke.
"And who says that she must leave with him?"
