Aaron’s POV
Jade started falling towards the water and without hesitation I push her back up, but I haven’t planted my feet firmly on the ground. The water is rising fast to my face, and before I know it, I slam head first into the lagoon.
Luckily for me I am a strong swimmer and can hold my breath for two minutes under water. I hear gargled laughter and smile to myself. Oh she thinks this is funny does she, guess it’s my turn to have some fun. I stay hidden below the surface until I see her edge closer, and as soon as I hear her call my name, I burst from the surface and pull her in. She screams and bats at me as I hold her steady in my arms, fire burning even through the coldness of the water.
“Aaron! I’m going to kill you, do you know how worried I was?” I single tear escapes her forest green eyes and I realize I f****d up. Yeah no s**t, dumbass. My wolf scolds me.
“Hey, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I’d scare you that much.” I wipe the tear before it can drop from her jaw with my thumb. “Well you should have” She hits my chest. “We may not know each other very much yet, but the mate bond is strong, and even just the thought of you...” She stops not able to finish, I feel like such an ass. I understand completely and I feel so guilty. “Shh I’m here and I’m not going anywhere.” I assure her, and stare deeply into those lush green eyes of hers.
“Aaron?”
“Yes love?” “Would you mind if we got out now, its a little cold.” I immediately lift her out of the water and climb out right behind her. I’m such an i***t, in a matter of minutes, I have managed to ruin our first date.
“f**k” I say under my breath, cursing myself for being so stupid. “Jade, I’m so sorry. I can’t believe I ruined this so fast. I had so much planned, and now you are soaked and freezing. I am the worst mate ever.” She turns to me and looks at me with a look of shock. “How could you possibly think you are the worst mate? Sure you played a not so funny prank, but I’m the reason you fell in in the first place. You haven’t ruined anything I promise.” She takes my hand and rubs her thumb over my knuckles. Damn she’s perfect.
Any other girl would be fuming for getting their hair wet, and here she is sharing the blame with me and comforting me. I really hit the mate jackpot. “So what else did you have planned?” she asked through a smile. “Well, I have a candle lit picnic stashed behind that tree over there, and I was going to build a fire to keep us warm and so we could roast marshmallows for desert, all while getting to know each other a little more.”
Jade’s POV
Could that sentence have been more perfect? How did I get so lucky?
Unfortunately, we are both soaked through, and the temperature is dropping, we can’t stay out here. “Let’s go get the picnic stuff, come with me.” I pull at his hand and walk us over to the tree he pointed out. He pulls it all out and my mouth waters at the smell of chocolate, most likely intended for s’more’s.
“Where are we going?” He asked confused as I pull him away, picnic basket and blanket in hand. “You’ll see. It’s my turn to take you to your grave.” I throw a wink over my shoulder, and thunderous laughter erupts behind me. “Your sense of humor is a little messed up you know?” “Yeah, and you laughed so whose really messed up?” We both laugh as we get closer to our destination.
I reach for the door handle to the library and shush Aaron. “Did a librarian really just shush me? Check that off the bucket list.”
“Oh shut up.” I playfully push him and roll my eyes. I get out my keys and unlock the door. “My parents live on the main floor so be quiet until we get to my room.” He looks at me shocked, but nods. We step quietly through the library, gingerly climbing the metal stairs. We reach my black bedroom door, and open it, revealing my safe haven to my mate.
His eyes are wide as I turn on the fairy lights strung throughout my entire room, illuminating the romantic space. I never realized the atmosphere of my room, until I stood taking it in with my mate beside me. My four poster bed has black chiffon fabric draped lazily around it, twinkle lights cast stars on my black comforter. French doors across from the bed open up to my rooftop balcony. My private collection of books are stuffed into opulent shelves in the corner with a black tufted chaise lounge in front of them. To the right are the closet and bathroom doors, both open to show off my messiness. I curse at myself for not closing them, but then again who would’ve thought I’d bring him here.
“Wow” Aaron breaths, and my heartbeat quickens. “I feel like I’m looking at your soul.” He says making me flush and feel utterly naked in front of him. “Yeah, so this is my room.” “It’s beautiful” He says looking into my eyes as his amber eye begin to darken. “Thank you, but I was really coming up here for this.” I open the French doors and lead him onto my rooftop.
“You can see the whole village.” Aaron says pointing at the tiny lights off into the distance. “It’s my favorite place to be, I sit up here all the time watching the world pass by.” “No wonder I’ve never met you before today, I would never want to leave this view either.” He grabs my hand as we stare out over the whole world together.

Aaron and I are still soaking wet, so I grab him the biggest pair of sweats I own and an oversized hoodie. I change into my starry night PJ’s in the closet and let Aaron change in the bathroom. As soon as I walk out, I burst into a fit of laughter.
Although that hoodie is oversized on me that is definitely not the case for Aaron. Everything is so short, my sweat pants are suddenly capris and my hoodie is so tight I honestly wonder how he managed to get it on.
“I’m glad you find this amusing but if you don’t mind, I think I’ll go without the straight jacket.” He peels off the hoodie with some difficulty, leaving me speechless as he slowly reveals his bare torso. His chest is toned, and he has a six pack. He’s so damn sexy, he even has those lines that lead straight down to his…
“Jade?” I am pried out of my lust filled mind by his deep voice, only to realize he’s smirking at me and has definitely noticed me ogling his amazing body. “Like what you see?”
Well duh how could I not? I blush so hard I think I might actually glow red in the dark. “Nice pjs.” He winks at me, looking me up and down, his dark eyes linger on my bare legs making me glow brighter. He walks out onto the roof, I follow as soon as the tension building in my chest dies down.

We spread the blanket out on the rooftop, and we have our candle lit picnic, talking into the wee hours of the night. I can feel myself falling sleep, but I don’t want to leave him, I’m not ready. I yawn making Aaron raise an eyebrow at me.
“If you’re tired, I can leave. The sun is starting to rise and I’ll have to leave to get ready for the day soon anyway.” He gives me a reassuring smile, as if to say it okay if I want him to go, but I don’t, I just want to sleep. “No you don’t have to go, I can make it a little longer.”
“Jade.” He says it a serious tone. “You’re exhausted, and I’m taking you to bed.” He says as he scoops me up bridal style holding me to his toned chest. I try to protest, but my yawn gives me away. He chuckles and pushes us through the French doors, walking us to my bed. He pulls back the covers and set me in, covering me up with a kiss to my forehead, I smile as the darkness comes take me.
“Goodnight Aaron.”
