Happy Birthday, Darling

"Happy birthday to me again... I guess." Haley said after putting down her keys at the table along with her store-bought mocha cake. She looked at her phone to check the time - its 4 in the morning.

"Well, that'll work. Atleast Glenda let me off early this time." she closed her eyes and made a wish then blows her imaginary candle on the cake.

After her self celebratory birthday, she immediately goes to her bedroom to prepare for bed. She removed all of the make up on her silky white face, let her long curly red hair down and went to shower. While dabbing her hair to dry, her phone rang.

"Who the hell would call me at this time now" Haley blurted. She checked who it is but its an unknown caller. Without any hesitation, she answered the call "Hello? Who is this?"

"Happy Birthday, Ms. Haley Smith." the caller said with a weird, creepy masculine voice.

"Uhh. Thanks. But who is this and why did you know my birthday? Wait... how did you know my name?" Haley said. But then, the call dropped. It was ended by the caller.

"That's weird. Only me, mom and Natalie knows my birthday. Nah, anyway."

The weird call doesn't seem to affect Haley at all. She just thought it was a prank call or whatever. Before going to bed, she checks the time on her phone - it's 6 in the morning and it's time for bed. She was about to sleep when her Mom came to her room to check her out.

"Haley? Are you there?" Dina said while searching for Haley in her dark room.

"Yea, Mom. I'm here. Just trying to sleep now." Haley said.

"Sorry, I didn't hear you came home. I was -" Dina said, while trying to sit beside Haley on her bed.

"Yeah, I know. Drunk. Like everyday, Mom." Haley said.

"Uhm. Anyway, happy birthday darling." Dina said while placing a small box with cute little ribbon on Haley's nightstand.

"Thanks, Mom. Please close the door on your way out." Haley said annoyingly. She tried to reach for the box that her Mom gave but she was too sleepy.

Haley and her Mom, Dina, doesn't have that good of a relationship. Besides from being a drunk, Dina goes from one man to another and this is the reason why Haley doesn't get to know her dad. However, even though they do not have a good relationship, Haley still respects her mom because she is indeed her mother.
