Chapter Four

Petra Tears blur my vision as I desperately start pushing my way through the buzzing hallway. It was a struggle to keep my feet on the track, It feels as if blood stopped flowing through my veins, I am numb. Knowing that Ellie and Trystan are together is bad enough, but actually watching it? I am losing my mind. This godforsaken school of darkness is a nightmare. Ever since I moved from my old school to Moon High, I’ve experienced nothing but pain and humiliation. I didn’t want a transfer, but Mum had insisted. The King took us under his protection as a way of offering assistance to us after the death of my father and that includes my sister and transferring to Moon High. The school is owned by the royal family and it was built centuries for the Elites. I like my old school more, it is a public school, but the environment is conducive. It accommodates all classes of werewolves without any form of discrimination. Every single person here in Moon High are born into nobility, wealth and privileges and they’re capitalizing on their affluence to make few of us that belong to the lower ranks feel less important. I miss my Dad, I miss my old life. I’ll give anything to have the life I had seven years ago back. That was the kind of life I know how to live. Not this strange world that I know I’ll never fit into. I hurry down the hall, trying to push the entire mess out of my head. Not looking where I’m going, I step on a foot and trip but, before I reach the floor, someone with an extraordinarily hard chest and muscled arms catches me from falling face flat. Someone who smells like fresh berries and pine. When I look up, a man who has a misty grey eyes and sharp jawline, dark shoulder-length curls that makes him look like a rich patrician Lord and a luscious lips that were made for kissing and being kissed. “I’m so sorry.” I shyly apologize, tucking my hair behind my ear. He smiles down at me and I feel butterflies flapping around in my stomach. Standing before me is the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen. For a second, I am lost in the bold beautiful eyes sucking me in. He clears his throat, a cocky grin tugs at the corner of his lips. “ You know, there are easier ways to get my attention.” He says, his voice dropping lowly as he leans in to whisper into my ear“...Than falling into my arms deliberately.” He stands straight and shoves his hand into his pocket, towering me like a giant over an ant. A genuine rejuvenating smile spread across my face for the first time in a long time at his insinuation. “You wish!” I snort. “ I’ll be more careful next time, it won’t happen again.” “It won’t? Too bad because I am already thinking of borrowing you an arm incase you need where to crash-land next time.” He winks and it Somehow makes him look hotter. I laugh out loud, but quickly clear my throat and recompose myself. “Sorry” “Why? You don’t seem to laugh very often, do you?” He asks, inspecting me closely while waiting for my answer. I don’t utter a word, I shake a no head instead. “I guess that makes the two of us.” He enunciates. The man standing in front of me oozes dominance and that alone is making me nervous, adding to his other very intimidating features, damn! I am squirming without being touched. He is about 6.7 inches tall and his gruff voice holds so much power. The way he appraises me is fvcking sinful. Who ever he is, he might just be a dangerous distraction I wouldn’t mind keeping even if it’d destroy me. “Shall we continue the tour?” a manly voice comes from behind me. I look beside me to see an older man in an elaborate official attire. Mr. Gab, the school Dean. A sad pot-bellied homunculi. He looks between me and Mr. hot pants and coughs deliberately to get his attention. “Shall we, Your highness.” “Sure” he responds to Mr. Gab without tearing his eyes from mine. He pins me with a scorching gaze that make me forget how to breath for a few wonderful seconds, searching my eyes as if seeking an answer to something. His lips close, dangerously close that if I tilt my head up, our lips will be touching. Then he smirks and takes a step back. When he steps back and I get a good look at him, He looks like a real dandy with a good deal of class in his brown beige jacket and black beige linen dress pants. The whole look comes together with a dark brown leather loafers. Everything on him from top to bottom speaks wealth. “Always watch the path of your feet, little girl.” He advices as he steps back. Clearing his throat, he turn on his tail and starts walking towards the exit, his both hands shoved inside his pockets. Mr. Gab shoots me a quick questioning glance before sauntering behind him. The crowd of students lingering in the hallway splits, making way for him to walk out majestically. He walks like the whole Kingdom belongs to him. So much confidence, power, and inveiglement He attracts attention but he doesn't even realize it. “He is so hot.” A girl who is leaning an elbow on a locker says, dreamingly watching him with her circles of friends. “Oh my fvcking God!” Did he just talk to you?" What the fvck? I nearly jump out of my skin, turning around to Mariam, one of my classmates. "Did you notice the way he looked at you?" she asks, her voice slightly awed. "Nope, I didn't." i respond immediately, hoping she stops talking. "I can't believe he talked to you." She squeals with delight. Aside Anna, Mariam is another girl I talk with because we are both considered lesser werewolves. I feel like I can relate to her. She is an Omega, one of the lowest rank. Her family is also under the king’s protection. Most of the people who lost a family member during the assassination attack received a certain amount of royalty from the king as a compensation for their loses and that includes schooling in Moon High for free. Looking confused at her, like what is so special about him that's so thrilling? “Yeah! So?” She gasps. “ You don’t know him?” I shrug nonchalantly and starts walking towards my locker. “I don’t care.” “Huh? I think you should.” She persistently states. “That was Alpha Leo, the King’s first son and the true heir.” My goodness! My heart is in my throat. The guy I just fell into his arms, who for a second seized my breath is the Forbidden Alpha? Oh my God. I am shocked beyond words, but i carefully compose my face. Mariam's voice drops and she speaks softly, “ Well, not until he got banished seven years ago and the mantle fell on Trystan’s shoulder…” she mumbles with resentment. “That arrogant fool.” I stop in front of my locker, placing my backpack between my legs, I press my legs together and flies the cold metal door open. I barely register into what Mariam is saying as I tune her out. “Why do people like him so much? Especially girls. They've got to know how horrible he is. He emptied a can of fruit juice on me in the cafeteria, and his friends laughed as he made fun of me.” Her tone is filled with so much pique for Trystan and it rile me up. I snap at Mariam, “He is hot and he's a star athlete, we can't compete with that. We belong in the bleachers, we watch, clap and cheer for them with smiles on our faces. That’s what we're born to do… worship them.” I blow hot. I am riled up at her rants because it involves Trystan. I see the need to defend him even when I should be tearing him down. "Any idea what he's doing in Moon High?" I ask, eager to hear more about the man who just affected me in all the wrong places, so much in ways I'd never imagined. "Something about taking a job here because he's been stripped off of his royal privileges. It's just a rumour I heard. I'm not sure how true that is." "He doesn't look broke to me." Placing my backpack on my thigh, I pull the zipper open and start to unpack some of my books, carefully arranging them into my locker. "Why will an Alpha want to be in a place like this instead of lording over a big castle with plenty slaves and servants at his beck and call?" "It's part of his punishment for aiding the assassins into the palace years ago." I gasps in shock. "That is not what I heard." What did I even hear? I search my brain to recall the story Mum once told me about the forbidden Alpha. I snap my fingers as I remember, " He performed a black magic that tore the walls of the kingdom." Mariam's jaw juts in shock. "So... he is evil... is that what you're trying to say?" "No...No, Mariam." I slam my locker shut and throw my backpack over my shoulder. we slowly start walking to class side-by-side. "That is the story I heard. which means, if we're told different stories about this person, there are 70% chances that none of them are the truth." "why was he banished then?" she asks. "No one knows, except those that gave the verdict."
