Hearing the water coming from the other room, Amelie began to stir, her eyes fluttering open under the sun seeping through the gap in the curtains.
Looking around the room, she found herself unable to recall most of what had happened the previous evening, but looking around, she could guess what the outcome had been. A pair of deep blue eyes suddenly flashed in her mind as she smiled to herself.
Not wanting to stick around for the awkward morning after conversation, she quickly got out of bed and started looking around for her things, dressing as she went, although unable to find her underwear anywhere, and not wanting to prolong her time spent there, she decided to give up. She'd take a shower and get changed once she was home anyway.
In her attempt to find her belongings, she hadn't heard the water shut off in the other room. As she opened the door to the suite, the bathroom door opened to reveal those gorgeous blue eyes staring at her in recognition.
A smile on her lips, she threw the man a wink as she walked through the doorway and shut the door behind her. Walking to the elevator, she pulled out her phone to find a dozen messages and missed calls from Summer trying to find out where she was.
She chuckled as she called for a ride home. Once she reached the entrance to the hotel, she glanced back with a satisfied smile and entered the waiting vehicle.
She decided to call Summer once she'd gotten home and try to see if her friend could remember what had happened last night, which led her to that man's room.
After leaving the room, Jaxon stood staring at the door for a brief moment before he headed to his wardrobe to dress, striding across the room, something caught his attention, tucked away just behind the door. Reaching down to grasp the item, his eyes widened slightly as he realized he'd just picked up a pair of women's lace underwear. Unable to hold back the smirk on his lips as he thought about the woman that had just left his bed and her obvious lack of underwear.
After dressing, Jaxon grabbed his phone and dialed the number of his friend he'd gone out with last night.
After a couple of rings, the line picked up and a groggy, clearly still half-asleep voice greeted him. "Jaxon, do you know what time it is? I don't know what I drank last night, but my head feels like it's on the verge of exploding. And where the hell did you disappear to? One minute you were next to me and the next you were gone, and then everything's black."
"You too huh? I can't remember much, but I woke up with some mystery woman in my bed."
"!!!""WHAT?!"
"I need you to contact the owner of the club. Seeing as we're both feeling like this and have little memory of last night, it seems likely we were slipped something. I want to know who it was, and I want to know who the woman I took back to my hotel room was as well."
"Jesus, only you could manage to pull someone and want a full FBI investigation into the how's, why's and who's!"
Getting slightly irritated by his friends complaining, Jaxons voice held a sharp tone to it "Just do it!" and he disconnected the call.
Pulling up outside her apartment complex, Amelie exited the vehicle and made her way to the entrance, checking her mailbox on the way. As she got to her door, an unwanted and unpleasant face stood waiting for her arrival.
Rolling her eyes, Amelie strode to her apartment, taking her keys from her bag, trying to block out the man before hers existence.
"Amelie, where have you been? Are you just getting home now?"
With an eyebrow quirked, she turned to face the man she had loved for years, "What do you want, Jason? Shouldn't you be busy with your wedding preparations? And for your information, what I do and whom I do it with are none of your concern."
Jason reached out to grab her wrist, but Amelie jerked her hand away before he could touch her.
"Leave Jason! Before I call security, I don't even know why you would show up here after trying to embarrass me so much last night, but whatever your intentions were with that charade, just know, it didn't work. I'm not upset, I didn't cry, quite the opposite actually. I went out and had one of the best nights I've had in years."
Jason gritted his teeth, looking back at the woman he had dumped, hoping he would have seen her crumble and bed for him to take her back. Not standing before him, defiant and proud, not caring in the slightest at the thought of having lost him and so publicly at that.
He sneered at Amelie, "HAH! You'll come crawling back when you realize no one else would possibly want you, and at that point, '''I might be nice enough to make you my mistress."
A feeling of pur disgust washed over Amelie. How did she ever have any romantic feelings towards this lecherous thing before her?
Standing up straight, lifting her chin, Amelie's voice was strong and resolute. "I will never be desperate enough to crawl back to you. And after the night i just had, you'd never be man enough for me again." With that she whipped her head around, opened her door and slammed the door shut before Jason had time to respond, let alone process what she'd even said to him.
Cursing under his breath, he internally raged, and stormed away from Amelie's home.
After shutting the door, Amelie kicked off her shoes, ran herself a bath, a made a coffee. Sinking into the deep, hot water, she let her muscles that had tensed upon seeing Jason's face relax, as she picked up her phone to finally call Summer back.
