Ryan gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles turning white as his foot pressed harder on the gas. His jaw clenched, and a string of curses left his lips. “I can’t believe it,” he muttered under his breath. “All this time… I trusted her. I would never have believed she was a green snake under the green grass.” Kate sat quietly at the passenger’s seat beside him, her hands folded neatly on her lap, watching him out of the corner of her eye. She didn’t want to say anything just yet. Let him stew in his own thoughts. “How could I have been so blind?” Ryan slammed his hand against the wheel, his face twisted in frustration. “I married her… because my family thought she was the best choice.
