My supposed Luna

Lucien’s pov :

I woke up before sunrise .

For a few seconds I lay still ,staring at the ceiling as the memories of last night came flooding in .

I turned my head to find her ,Skylar . Still asleep.

She lay on her side ,her back facing me ,her long brunette hair scattered across the pillow .The anger that seemed to follow her everywhere was gone from her face now .In sleep she looked softer and even peaceful.

I found myself watching her longer than I intended .

There was something about seeing her helpless that made my chest tighten . She’s always angry ,always ready to push me away before I even get a chance to talk to her and I couldn’t blame her .

My wolf stirred inside me .

She’s hurting.

I sighed .

I know .

You hurt her ,all of you did .

I know that too .

My jaw tightened .

I wasn’t happy about the situation. I didn’t want this for her ,but now she has a life and people who would die to protect her .In her former home she had no one .

I slipped out of bed making sure not to wake her. After a quick shower and change of clothes ,I returned to the room .She hadn’t moved .

I told myself countless times that keeping my distance would make things easier .I don’t know why I cared so much .

I walked closer to her bed ,staring at her ,wondering why the moon goddess chose her for me ,what makes this human so special. And that scent ,I’d never gotten a whiff of it in my life. It was unusual and unique .

My hands almost reached for her hair when the sound of footsteps approaching stopped me .

The door bursted open .

“Lucien !”

I turned sharply .

Audrey stood at the doorway ,her face twisted with rage.

I watched as her eyes moved from me to Skylar .

And judging by the look on her face ,she had come here ready for war .

“So it’s because of her ?”

“Audrey calm down, “ I said gently .

“Why ,because you got mated to a lowlife who isn’t even worthy of the title of being called your luna ?”

“Audrey she’s sleeping ,let’s take this outside ,please “

“No !” She yelled .

And just as I feared, Skylar woke up .

She rubbed her eyes and looked up at me and then at Audrey .Her messy hair stood out .

“Who’re you ?” Skylar asked with a cracked voice.

Before I Audrey could say anything I rushed to speak .

“Skylar this is …”

“A superior breed “

Audrey cut me off .

“Look at her Lucien ,is she really better than me ?”

“Audrey please let’s talk about this outside”

I took a quick glance at Skylar and didn’t miss the confusion in her face .

I quickly held Audrey’s hand and pulled her out .

We walked to the castle garden and I sat to hear all she had to say and to be honest I didn’t listen to half of her rant.

“I can’t believe you’d do this to me Lucien ,throw away a relationship we’ve taken years to build for that …”

“That’s enough Audrey ,you’ve made your point “

She scoffed and folded her hands on her chest .

“I didn’t have a choice ,the moon goddess chose her “

“And you didn’t think it was necessary to fill me in ,I had to find out from Lucinda “

I sighed .

“Audrey I’m sorry but I didn’t know how to tell you “

“My father will hear about this “

“Infact I’m going to see your father right now “

I didn’t have the strength to call her back .

I walked back to the room to check on Skylar and bumped into Lucinda in the hallway .

“Hey big bro “

“Lucinda, what were you thinking?”

Her face changed .

“What’re you talking about ?”

“Audrey ,I’m talking about Audrey “

“She came in here asking about you and I just felt sorry for her “

“And then you told her about my mating with Skylar “

“Yes ?” She responded without a hint of remorse in her tone .

“That wasn’t your story to tell “

“When were you going to tell her ?After you and Skylar had your first pup ?”

“This isn’t funny Lucinda “

“I’m not trying to be funny ,it’s better she knows now than finding out later ,I did you a favor “

I walked past her in anger ,there was no use talking to her ,talking to Lucinda about serious matters was like talking to a three year old about politics .

I opened the room to see Skylar sitting on the bed . She was being taken care of by the maidens ,she wore an off shoulder Beige colored dress that swept down below her knees ,it was simple yet somehow she managed to make it look fancy. She turned to look at me and I was met with the most gorgeous pair of blue eyes .Her skin complimented the dress and the dress made her eyes pop .

“I need to talk to my Luna ,alone, “ I said .

They both walked out with their heads down.

“How are you ?” I asked .

“I should ask you, “ she said standing up .

“You have a fiancé ?” She asked .

“Skylar… “

“No no “ she stopped me with her hands in the air .

“This is your problem,I’m just going to sit and watch “

“It complicated “

“Right ,I’ve heard that before ,accompany to meet your parents please “

She tucked her hands under my arm holding me as we walked to the throne room .

We walked to the throne room ,a couple servants greeted here and there but Skylar paid no heed to any of them ,there it was again .That anger .

There were heavy doors towering before us ,two guards stepped aside to pull the doors open .

The sound of our footsteps echoed through the marble floors as we walked in .

My eyes immediately searched for the throne at the end of the room where my father sat. A couple of elders were seated as well. My mother sat on the right hand of my father and in the middle of them all was Audrey .

My father’s expression was calm ,I tightened my jaw.

I already had a feeling I wasn’t going to like the outcome of this .
