Skylar’s POV :

The moment we arrived at Lycanthia I was left staring .The last time I was here I was kidnapped so I didn’t get to see the way .

The streets were clean , I could feel the heat of the people’s gazes piercing through me like daggers .

A woman standing next to a shop stopped mid- conversation when she saw me .Two young lycans near the fountain lowered their voices ,their eyes remained fixed on me .Even the old man sitting beneath the oak tree seemed to forget what he was doing .I tightened my fingers around my other arm.

“Relax, it's probably because you’re walking with the prince and his pack, “ the guy with dark hair said .

“Excuse me ?”

“I’m Zane ,your mate’s best friend “He leaned forward.

“Oh great there’s more of him“

“What ?” He asked .

“I’m not exactly looking to make friends with wolves so if you don’t mind I’d like to keep walking without hearing you talk “

He straightened himself .

“She’s feisty, “ I heard him whisper to Lucien .

A silent chuckle escaped Lucien’s lips .

It was like I was walking with four giants behind me ,they were all so tall they made me feel so small .

“Why can’t we just take a carriage ,aren’t you a prince ?”

I asked, turning around to look at them .

“I want you to know you can trust me ,so I’m showing you the way, “ Lucien said .

“How on earth am I going to remember the way ? “

“You complain too much ,you know that ?” Lucien muttered .

“Come here I’ll carry you “

“Excuse me ?”

“Since you’re tired ,I’m offering to carry you “

I turned around to look at him before declining .

We arrived at the castle and I braced myself for whatever drama would arise. I stood outside the throne room watching Lucien adjust his clothes.

“Wait here, “ he said .

I stood outside waiting for him to call me in .

The door opened and I saw him again .

“Uhmmm?”

“My father isn’t present “

“Pardon ?” I said .

“He’s traveled for royal duties ,he’ll be gone for two days “

“So I have to stay here for two whole days ?”

“I’m afraid so “

“You can’t be serious “

“I actually am, “ he said .

I rolled my eyes at the thought of being here for two days.

We both strolled to his chambers .

“ I need to have my bath “

“Do I need to call Kira and Anaya ?”

“I didn’t grow up in a castle where people wipe my ass ,I know how to bath myself “

“Good,” he murmured .

I opened the door to the bathing room stepping inside Lucien’s chambers with a towel wrapped around my damp hair .

I paused for a while watching him as he lifted his head.

His eyes swept over me from my feet to my head before it hit me that I was wearing his robe .

His jaw tightened .

“Is there a problem ?” I asked .

“No ,you can check my closet for whatever you like “

“I think I’m going to stay in this for a while ,it’s pretty comfortable “I said sitting on the couch.

His eyes found their way to me again .

“What ?”I asked .

“How are you comfortable in that ?”

“What’s your business?”

“Find something to wear Skylar “ he said with his eyes looking directly at me.

“Why does it bother you so much ?”

I watched him tighten his jaw again .

“What ?”

“No freaking way ,are you hard right now ?”

“No it’s a genuine question ,you have to answer with a yes or a no “

I watched him stand up shaking his head as he slammed the door shut .

For some reason a smile crept up my lips .

A voice echoed in my head ,louder than my thoughts .

I closed my eyes and let out a huge chunk of air .

Being in this kingdom was making me hear things .

I stepped outside,strolling through the palace walls ,noticing every marking as my fingers traced each one of them .I admired the Gold windows and the view outside. It was a whole different world in Lycanthia .

The people,the way people moved around with fangs and others with wolf ears .I admired the place .

“Excuse me “ a girl’s voice called out .

I turned around to see who it was and my eyes met with another pair of blue ones .

Audrey .

Her eyes moved over me as she took several steps forward.

“Where did you get that ?”

I looked down .

“This ?” I said pointing at the robe .

“Yes .that “

“I picked it from Lucien’s closet “

Her face went still .

“Lucien’s closet “

I nodded .

“Prince Lucien ?”

“I know who Lucien is, “ I said .

“What’re you doing here ,didn’t the king cast you out “

She asked, walking in circles around me.

“Lucien brought me back “

“And is the king aware of this ?”

“What does it matter to you ?” I asked

“You see Lucien and I are to be married soon “ she said .

“He’s already been mated and last I heard you can’t be mated twice “

“You sick bastard!” she said, pulling my hair with her hands .

“You are nothing compared to me you b***h “

Her grip tightened as I tried to fight her off but she was so strong .

She stared at me and I watched as her eyes turned red .Her fingers turned into claws piercing them in my neck as I winced in pain .

“Let me go “ I tried to shrug her off.

“Now we’re going to get one thing straight you little b***h ,Lucien is mine ,he does not belong to you ,you sick cunt “

“Audrey !” Lucien called out .

Her grip loosened .

“What is wrong with you ?!” He asked her .

I held my neck trying to feel where her nails dug in .

Lucien held me in his arms as he embraced me ,checking my neck .

“Are you hurt ?” He asked .

I nodded my head .

“Lucien ,why is she wearing your robe ?”

“Audrey don’t make me do something i will regret ,get out of my way “

“Have you sealed with her ?”

Lucien held me in his arms ,completely wrapping his arms around me patting my head .

“Audrey I am warning you for the last time “

“Answer me ,did you f**k her ?!”she yelled .

Lucien held me as he guided me to his chambers .

“I hope you’re not bleeding ?” He asked .

“I’m good “

“I know you must be in shock ,I’m sorry you had to see that”

I watched him as he searched my body for bruises.

“I didn’t know you knew what f**k was “

His expression didn’t change ,he looked stern and almost angry .

“Are you okay ?”

I asked .

“Didn’t I warn you about the robe ?”

I sighed .

“You may enjoy this whole saga but I don’t “

“Lucien I…..”

“I can’t bear it “ he cut me off .

“This might not mean anything to you but it hurts my wolf ,I cannot stand to see you in pain ,so please be careful Skylar ,please” he looked at me with genuine pain in his eyes and something in me melted .

No one has ever cared for me this much before .

His hands brushed against my skin and it sent chills down my spine.

Our eyes remained locked .

He immediately cut our eye contact trying to look anywhere but at me .

“Go change into something better , please “

I could tell from the way he looked at me that he was struggling with something.

I stood and walked to his closet .

My eyes made their way back to him again .

“Lucien !” The door bursted open .

“Mother …?” He called out .
