Chapter 2

Luna's hands trembled as she folded her mother's favorite shawl, the soft lavender fabric slipping through her fingers like sand. The room, once filled with the vibrant energy of her parents, now felt like a museum of memories. Shadows danced on the walls, cast by the flickering candlelight, and the air was thick with the scent of old books and lavender, her mother's favorite. Luna tucked the shawl into the old, worn suitcase that lay open on the bed, the same suitcase her parents had used on their countless adventures. She glanced at the family picture on the nightstand, the one taken on their last vacation together. In the photograph, her mother’s arm was around her father’s waist, their faces alight with joy. Luna was in the middle, laughing, her eyes sparkling with the same mischief she inherited from her father. She traced her fingers over their smiling faces, her heart aching with the weight of their absence. “Why did you have to go?” she whispered, her voice barely audible in the stillness of the room. “Why did you leave me?” The moonlight streamed through the window, bathing the room in a silvery glow. Luna felt a peculiar sensation, as if the moon itself was reaching out to her, calling her. She turned to the window, and there it was – a soft, ethereal glow, pulsating gently. It was time. “Luna,” a voice echoed in her mind, soft yet insistent. It was the voice of the moon, a voice that had comforted her on countless lonely nights. “It’s time to open the portal to Everwood Academy.” With a heavy sigh, Luna placed the photograph back on the nightstand and closed the suitcase. She had known this moment was coming, yet it still felt surreal. Part of her doesn't want to go but her parents wants them to be there. To continue what they want and that is to live a better life. Luna called his brother to get ready. The Everwood Academy was a place of legend, a sanctuary for those with extraordinary abilities. Her parents had often spoken of it in hushed tones, describing it as a realm where magic was not just a fairy tale but a reality. And now, it was her turn to step into that world. “Alright, I’m ready,” she said, though her heart was anything but steady. She walked to the center of the room, where a small, ornate box lay on the floor. Inside was a key, ancient and intricately crafted, passed down through generations. With a deep breath, Luna picked up the key and held it tightly in her hand. She could feel its warmth, a comforting presence amidst the uncertainty. The moonlight intensified, casting a brilliant beam onto the floor. Luna knelt down and placed the key in the center of the beam. As she turned it, the air around her shimmered, and the room seemed to dissolve into a cascade of light and color. She felt a pull, as if an invisible force was drawing her into another realm. When the light faded, Luna found herself standing at the edge of a vast forest, its trees tall and ancient, their leaves whispering secrets in the wind. Ahead of her, a path wound its way through the trees, leading to a grand, towering structure in the distance – Everwood Academy. “Welcome, Luna,” a voice greeted her, warm and inviting. She turned to see an elderly woman, her eyes twinkling with wisdom and kindness. “I am Headmistress Elara. We have been expecting you.” Luna nodded, her heart pounding. “Thank you,” she managed to say. “I… I hope I can live up to the expectations.” Headmistress Elara smiled gently. “My condolences. Your parents spoke highly of you, Luna. They believed in your potential, and so do we. Everwood Academy is a place of learning and growth, but also of healing. You have been through much, but here, you will find a new family, a new purpose.” Luna looked around, taking in the beauty and serenity of the forest. She felt a sense of peace, something she hadn’t felt since her parents’ disappearance. As she followed the Headmistress down the path, she couldn’t help but feel a glimmer of hope. “Tell me about them,” Luna said suddenly, her voice barely above a whisper. “My parents… what were they like here?” The Headmistress paused, her eyes reflecting a mix of sorrow and fondness. “They were extraordinary, Luna. Your mother was a healer, her touch could mend the deepest wounds. Your father was a protector, his strength unmatched. Together, they were a force of nature, always putting others before themselves. They loved you more than anything in this world.” Luna felt a tear escape and quickly wiped it away. “I miss them so much,” she admitted. “I know, child,” the Headmistress said softly, placing a comforting hand on Luna’s shoulder. “But their legacy lives on in you. You have their courage, their compassion. And here, at Everwood, you will find your own path, your own destiny.” As they approached the grand gates of the academy, Luna felt a surge of determination. She would make her parents proud. She would embrace her heritage and the magic that flowed within her veins. The gates swung open, and Luna stepped forward, ready to embark on a new chapter of her life. Inside the academy, the halls were filled with students, each one unique and extraordinary. Luna could feel the magic in the air, a tangible energy that made her skin tingle. She was introduced to her fellow first-year students, who welcomed her with open arms. “Hi, I’m Aiden,” a boy with tousled hair and a friendly smile said, extending his hand. “Welcome to Everwood.” “Thank you,” Luna replied, shaking his hand. “I’m Luna.” “It’s nice to meet you, Luna,” a girl with bright blue hair and a mischievous grin said. “I’m Seraphina, but you can call me Sera.” Luna couldn’t help but smile at their warmth and friendliness. She felt a sense of belonging, something she had longed for since her parents’ disappearance. "Let's go to you room. Follow me"
