Ashley went home, Linda returned to her project, and Fritz tried to think about the Middle Ages. As afternoon drifted into evening, he aimlessly turned pages, randomly flipped through books. Unable to concentrate, he pushed them aside. Sensing his restlessness, Linda closed her laptop. “Are you OK?” she asked. “I keep going over this in my head.
