The question lingered in the air. “Who’s that?” Shalom’s voice was low, edged with suspicion as she stared out through Tracy’s window. Tracy moved quickly to her side, her heartbeat still unsettled from everything that had just happened. She followed Shalom’s gaze, searching the street below. But there was nothing there. Just the quiet stretch of road, still and undisturbed, as if no one had passed through it at all. “Did you see his face?” one of the girls asked. Shalom shook her head. “No… just his back. He was walking fast.” Tracy frowned slightly, her eyes lingering outside a moment longer before stepping back. Something about it didn’t feel right. But she pushed the thought aside.
