Instead of getting the existing applicants, they have decided to let them go by informing them that they will just call them if they qualify.
They have to try the other method that they have talked about earlier. It's better to find humans who are willing to do their bidding.
Tricking them that it's just a job is not going to be good. If the Corp wants to find more humans to be the hosts for their species, they have to find other ways to get them.
Anika saw Mrs. Nichols getting out of the building already. She smiled, knowing that the old lady got spared from the program.
The board just decided to look for those people who are sending signals to them. That way, they no longer have to erase memories from the unsuspecting individuals anymore.
It's what the elders ordered them to do. Anita is so relieved. At least she no longer feels guilty about enjoying her life as Celestia right now.
The existence of these species should also be protected at all times. If someone finds out what is happening to the Corp, they need to find another planet again.
After all, they will not have a hard time finding those humans who are more than willing to share their body with them.
Anika finds it good for herself. She even likes her life now more than before. She felt relieved that the Corp seems to change its ways in just a short period.
Astro stand beside her. "What are you smiling about?" He asked.
"I'm just happy for them. They can just continue their lives as it is. We can still find other hosts somewhere." she replied.
"You always have a soft spot with humans." he said.
Anika smiled and replied. "We have to value every life form. You'll never know what they can do for you." she said.
"That's why I love you so much!" he said as he took her hand to his.
Anika felt a little jealous. These two are really in love with each other. But Astro didn't even know that she is still alive.
He thought that she's Celestia, The love of his life. She wonders what will happen if he knows that she's still there.
She doesn't even want to tell him the truth even if she and Celestia are good with their coexistence now.
They will not kill her body anymore, but she's sure that Astro's heart will break if he learns that his beloved wife's host is still alive.
She suddenly felt light headed. As if somebody hit her head. Astro was able to hold and support her balance.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
She's not since she feels like everything is spinning so fast. Then it all went dark.
Anika passed out in Astro's arms. He immediately called for help, and they took her to their mother ship.
It seems that Anika always feels dizzy the past few days. Maybe she's just tired of all the excitement that is going on around her.
She doesn't know if it's the inability of eating solid food though. After all, she's still human.
Everything from the Corp is normal. Their food is inside those small vials. It's hard to survive with just that for a human.
She is still unconscious, but she's dreaming. It's a lucid dream where everything feels better than reality even.
In her dream, she can see Celestia in her body, but she's very far from her.
"Celestia! Where are you going?" She called her since she's not that close to her.
"I'm sorry Anika, I have to go now. Take care of Astro for me. Love him the way I do." she heard Celestia loud and clear.
This is weird. She can see Celestia in her dream but as if looking in front of the mirror.
"What are you talking about?" come over here. She said to her.
"This is not a dream Anika, I'm dying. I was supposed to be dead even before they injected me to your system. But somehow, you were able to revive me. That's why you survived the transformation. You are stronger than I am." Celestial said, explaining the situation.
Anika realized that Celestia is telling the truth. This is not the dream.
The black outs and the dizziness didn't go away at a very long time ever since they co-existed.
She is just there in her head not even trying to take control of her body. She doesn't have the strength to do that!
She even made her fall in love with Astro so that she can take care of him when this finally happens.
Realising what's about to happen makes her feel deep sorrow. Even if Celestia was supposed to take over her body, she didn't even try to do that.
If she did that, it would kill Anika, and the Celestia will have full control. Maybe she knows that this is about to happen.
"So, is this goodbye? Am I still gonna live if you go?" Anika asked.
"Of course you will. You are a stronger species than me. You will survive. I have taught you everything you need to know about our planet and our ways. Just take care of yourself and Astro. He should never know I died or it will break him. It is our way. When a partner dies, the other partner will follow. Do not tell him what happened. Just go on and continue with your lives even without me."
Anika realized that she was already crying. She can't explain why she feels this way.
She doesn't even know if she can let go of Celestia. She was a part of her for a long time now. But why does this have to happen?
She's Celestia’s version on Earth. So why does she have to go before her? It's not fair to finally have someone that understands her.
Even if she knows that they are each other's versions, she still treats Celestia like her sister and best friend.
”Celestia, don't do this. You don't have to go anywhere.” Anita panics.
She can see her fading as she keeps on trying to follow her.
Until she can no longer see her.
Is that it? Celestia is no longer around just like that?
Now, that's very unfair. How can she stay alive if her other version is already dead?
There are many questions than answers she has, and none of those has any answers for how.
She suddenly feels her consciousness getting back to her. As she opened her eyes, she saw Astro’s face right away.
He looks so worried and his eyes are puffed. Was he crying? He will cry some more if he knew what just happened.
He rushed over her. "I thought I lost you!" he said and kissed her forehead.
Anika tried to feel if Celestia was still with her. She's hoping that it was just a dream.
Silence...
She cannot hear or feel her inside her head. Maybe she's still just resting.
Anika realized that she is already in their bedroom. "How long have been I'm unconscious?' asking Astro.
"It's been a week. They cannot find anything wrong with you." he replied.
A week? That was a long time. She thought that it was just a few hours.
"I was about to bring you back to the Mother Planet so that you can get better treatment. But I'm glad you're awake. How are you feeling My Love?" He still looks anxious.
Astro is holding her hand and looks tense. He's very worried about his dear wife.
"I'm fine now, love. Don't worry anymore." she smiled at him to ease his worries.
Astro kissed her forehead again. He looks relieved now that she's awake.
But what if Celestia is gone for real? Her dream is very real.
No! She resisted that thought. Once she comes back to her senses, she will try to wake her up.
But her dream was so real. Is she just trying to fool around?
Maybe Celestia adapted her sense of humor by now. They are acting as if they are really just one person. She dismisses her thoughts of her passing.
It was just a bad dream.
