A few more weeks have gone by, still no change on the mate status, but that’s okay. I have relaxed a bit more on that topic. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have a lifetime to find him, there’s no reason to rush it. I make my way downstairs to find my mom sitting on the couch with her face in her hands sobbing. I run over to her and say “Is everything okay? What’s going on mom?” She looks up at me with tears in her eyes, “sit down honey” she says to me as she pats the couch next to her. “I just got a call from your uncle and your grandma isn’t doing very well.” I gasp while pulling my hand up to my mouth. I know this can’t be good, as my grandma has been sick for awhile with cancer. “What are we doing to do?” I ask my mom. “We’re gonna go and see her for a few days to spend some time with her. Say our goodbyes.” She tells me as she starts crying again. I wrap my arms around her and pull her into a hug while rubbing her arm. My heart is broken right now but I’m trying to fight the urge to cry right now. I need to be strong for my mom, I know she needs it right now. My grandmas lives in a pack a few hours from away so we will have to pack a few bags to travel. My mom isn’t from the Clearwater Pack originally, she moved here to be with my dad after they met and have lived here ever since. A few hours go by and we’ve all packed a bag ready to leave in the morning. My mom called Silas and him and Mindy will be here in the morning to come with us. Dad had to take off some work and I had to tell school I would be gone for a few days. In the morning we pack up the car and start our long journey to the Springfield Pack. Hours go by, and we finally put up to the gates. They buzz us in and the gates open up to a long driveway. We drive along the roads til we find her house. We pull up to the cutest little cottage, one of my favorite places to be as a kid. There’s smoke coming from the chimney as the wood stove warms the house. We walk in to find my uncle Matthew tending to my grandma. “Hey everyone.” My uncle says to us. “I’m sorry this is how we’re meeting up again.” My mom rushes over to give him a big hug as she sobs into his chest. I make my way over to my grandma as she sits in her favorite recliner chair, she looks so much skinnier than the last time I seen her. I feel guilt building up inside me because I have not been over to see her in almost a year. The tears shed down my face as I hold onto her hand. She squeezes my hand and I look up at her. “Don’t be sad little one. I am old and these things happen. I love you so much, thank you for coming and visiting me.” She says through her raspy quiet voice. We spend hours with her, lots of quality time which we all loved. We say goodnight and go down the road to the guest house that Alpha Benson had made up for us since he knew we were coming to see my grandma. Alpha Benson is a good man and an even better Alpha. “Thank you so much Alpha Benson.” My mom says to him. “Of course, if there is anything else you guys need while you’re here just let me know.” He tells us. We says our thank you and make our way into the house and get ready for bed. I sit in the hot shower for awhile just crying, letting it all out.
