Dancing With the Devil

Cyrus. Sturgess. Just. Called. Me. Sexy. I stood there in disbelief, which must have been amusing for Cyrus as he began to laugh, taking my hand in his as he led me onto the dancefloor. He was always so charismatic and flirtatious but never towards me - tonight came as a total surprise. My whole body was aflame at the touch, looking down at our hands entwined until we stopped and he let go, a sad expression falling over me before I felt his hands on the small of my back, pulling me closer to him as he began to sway to the music. "Cyrus, what-" "Just one song," he insisted, granted had it been his request I wouldn't have left his side for the entire night. There was something so alluring about him that made every girl our age swoon, and you could tell that he got off on the fact he was so sought after. Neither brother really entertained the idea of long-term girlfriends, but they were both known to have plenty of flings - their urges combined with their lack of having a mate made it open season for all the females in the pack, and the boys seemed to love watching the fights for their attention. "Are you ready for tonight?" He asked out of the blue, my distracted mind pulling my attention back to the present as I gave him quite a confused look. "For what?" "You're turning eighteen," he grinned as my face fell, having not realized anybody had even known when my birthday was, let alone one of the twins who were about to step into the roles of alpha. "Happy almost Birthday, by the way," he teased, giving me a soft nudge as I quickly closed my mouth that had been agape that whole time due to shock. "How did you know?" I had to ask, there was no way I could let it slide without questioning him. "You're part of the pack," his words came out so easily as he continued to move to the music - I hoped he couldn't hear my scoff over the music at that remark, but he could definitely feel the change in body language as I tensed up. "Whether you want to believe it or not, Willow, you're part of our pack, which means i've got tabs on you just as much as anyone else under my roof." Of course he did - he would make one hell of an alpha one day given his attention to detail. "You're a much better dancer than you were when you were fourteen," he giggled, my eyes widened as I immediately thought back to my first high school dance. I had my hair up in a messy ponytail, hadn't figured out how to put makeup on yet and had massacred my eyeshadow, and I had worn a hand me down dress that was two sizes too big for me (it was all I had at the time). I wore a belt thinking that it looked cute, but really it just bunched the already loose fabric up in all the wrong places, making me look like a bag lady. I can remember the laughter, the fingers pointing at me, all the remarks and insults that were thrown my way, but just as I was about to leave, I felt someone's hand on my shoulder, turning me around to face them. Cyrus had heard all of the names I was being called and wanted to silence them, and he knew the best way to do that would be to approach me - nobody would dare continue to pick on me with the future alpha right there. I was so taken back by his kind gesture as he led me to the dancefloor, much like he had tonight, and put his arms on my sides as I began to move with him - stepping on his toes every few steps, embarrassed as all hell though he just laughed it off and told me to let him lead. It only took that one dance to turn my night around, nobody bothering me after that, all the teasing stopped in an instant as I was left to enjoy the rest of the night alone - though I couldn't help but give him a glance every now and then, unable to stop smiling whenever our eyes would meet. "Surprisingly," I mused, though it was true - it's not like I had much practice (or any at all for that matter aside from that one other dance) when it came to partner dancing. "You never answered me." "About what?" "Are you ready for tonight?" How foolish of me to forget the question he had JUST asked me moments prior. I shrugged my shoulders, glancing at my watch another second, seeing that the time was creeping towards 11:30. "Would it matter if I wasn't?" He laughed as he shook his head, "just remember, the more you do it the less it hurts," unable to keep from smirking, as I was definitely not thinking about shifting into a wolf when those words were mentioned, my mind having gone right into the gutter (considering I was a virgin that was very surprising). He caught the blush that washed over my cheeks and more laughter erupted, realizing what he had said could definitely be misinterpreted. "You know what I mean," he was quick to throw in there. Talking to Cyrus came easily, there was just something about him that could relax anyone, but soon the song was over and he let go of me, taking a step back to admire me one last time - that blush still visible on my cheeks as I watched his eyes scan over me. "You should dress like this more, I like it," he tapped his watch as he took another step back. "Times running out, you better get outside before midnight Cinderella." With that, the future alpha turned on his heels and walked away, my heart leaping in my chest over that short interaction we had just had. I was an i***t to have a crush on him, but I just couldn't help myself when he was the only one who paid me any attention, and he even knew my birthday - that was HUGE in my book. I had fallen victim to his charm, just like every other girl that glanced his way, but could you blame me given how perfect he was? He was right though about one thing - I needed to get outside before midnight, and I did just that, taking one final glance at the man who had just shared a dance with me before I turned and headed outside, away from the ballroom and guests. Cyrus Sturgess had called me sexy, I could not stop thinking about that - Happy Birthday to me, indeed.
