Maria walked back and forth on the pavement of the house, worried sick about her daughter Avira. She had gone for hours, and Maria was not comfortable again.
Just as she was starting to come and search for Avira, a car pulled up, and Avira stepped out of the car, while Ethan Pierce watched her until she entered the gate.
"Avira, my dear, you had me so worried! Do you know how late it is?" Maria exclaimed.
Avira smiled "I'm sorry, Mom. I didn't mean to offend you. I got caught up on the road,no cab around the area"
Maria' was relieved as she looked at her daughter's happy face. They went inside, and Avira told her mother all about what happened.
Avira took a deep breath before explaining. "Mom, I'm sorry. I was at the dancing club , and after we finished in the club, there was no cab and then Ethan Pierce offered me a lift home."
Maria's eyes open widely "Ethan Pierce?
"Who's he?"Maria asked.
Avira hesitated before continuing. "He's the one who brought me home. He said he saw me dancing and offered to give me a ride."
"And you got into a car with a stranger?"Maria's expression changed immediately.
Avira nodded. "I know it sounds crazy, but he seemed nice, Mom.he helped me home, there was no cab and he promised to help me get a job."
Maria raised an eyebrow. "What type of job, Avira?"
"I don't know yet. But he said he has connections and can help me find something better than dancing at the dancing club"Avira explained.
Maria sighed, her expression softening. "Avira, I just want what's best for you. But be careful, okay? You don't know Ethan Pierce very well."
"I will, Mom. I promise."Avira nodded, feeling relaxed after her mother advised.
Just then, her phone rang, breaking the silence. she got up to answer it, leaving her Mom to wonder if Ethan Pierce was truly a friend or just a stranger with interior motives.
"Hello,"Avira said.
"Hello, Lily."Let's me Ethan Pierce.
"Ethan, how are you? Avira replied.
"Am fine,"just to say hi and say good night."he said
"Thanks Ethan and good night."Avira answered before dropping the phone.
Avira opened her bag and brought out an envelope filled with money. "Mom, look at what I got today from the dancing!" she said proudly.
But Maria's expression turned serious. "Avira, where did you get all this money? I don't think it's worth risking your safety and happiness."
"I know, Mom. But I did it for us. I wanted to provide for our future."Avira looked down, her expression changed suddenly.
"I know, sweetie. But there are other ways to provide for us that don't involve putting yourself in harm's way. Let's talk about this more tomorrow, okay?"Maria's face softened.
Avira nodded, happy for her mother's love and concern about her.
They both hugged each other tight, Maria knew that she would do anything to keep her daughter safe and happy.
That night, Maria lay in bed thinking about Avira's job at the dancing club. She was worried about her daughter's safety and the fact that she was making a lot of money from it. She hoped Avira would find a new job soon.
Avira went to her room and refreshed herself in the bathroom, changed to one of her old nightgowns, she rushed to her bag and took the envelope, she removed some dollars and kept the envelope under her mattress.
"I hope everything works out," she whispered to herself.
She climbed the bed and Avira's mind replayed the events of the day, her dreams filled with visions of a better future, drifting off to sleep.
She had a dream, where she saw herself in a new job, happy and content, with her mother smiling proudly beside her.
The next morning, Maria called Avira into her room before she left for school.
"Good Morning, Mom."Avira said, coming out from her room.
"Good Morning my love."Maria said, carrying a tray of sandwiches and tea.
"How was your night?"she asked.
"Fine,Mom and yours."she asked her Mom.
"Find,my angel,"Maria replied.
"Breakfast is ready, sit down and eat first,l will like to talk to you before leaving for school."Maria said to Avira.
Avira nodded her head, while eating her food.
After the food, Maria sat beside her daughter.
"Avira, can I give you some pieces of advice?" she asked.
Avira nodded, curious. "Of course, Mom. "
'What is it?"
She moved closer to her mother and looked straight into her eyeballs.
Maria thought for a moment. "Just remember, money isn't everything."
Your safety and happiness are what matter most to me in this life, you are my only child, Avira. I don't want you to rush into anything that doesn't feel right."
"I won't, Mom. I promise."Avira smiled and was pleased with her mother's wisdom.
Maria continued with her discussion with her daughter ."Avira, I want you to promise me you'll be very careful. No more dancing at the dancing club, okay?" she said, her eyes filled with tears.
"I promise, Mom. I'll find a new job, one that's safe and respectable."Avira nodded and replied.
"That's my girl. I know you'll make the right choices,l trust you."Maria said and smiled, proud of her daughter.
"Now hurry up and start preparing for school."
"Ok, Mom."Avira said and ran to her room to prepare for school.
Avira tied her hair in a ponytail and applied a little makeup before leaving for school.
She looks at herself in the mirror, smiles at herself and feels she is good to go.
As she opened the gate, she saw Reynolds waiting for her, holding a beautiful flower.
"Good morning, my angel," he said with a smile.
"Good morning, Reynolds," Avira replied, smiling back.
Reynolds offered her the flower.
"Ready to go to school, my angel?"
"Thanks, Reynolds."
"Yes, I'm already late. "Avira nodded.
"Let's hurry to school,so that we don't miss our first lecture,"Avira added.
"I've been waiting for you since morning, my angel. What took you so long?"Reynolds chuckled
"My mom was discussing something important with me,"she said.
Reynolds nodded understandingly and handed her his bicycle helmet.
"Let's go, then. We don't want to be late for class."
"Yes, let's go, I'm ready."she replied laughing.
The man in black suit was watching them as they moved the bicycle.
