NOAH ♠️ I noticed it first on a Wednesday. Not because Wednesday was significant, it wasn’t, it was an ordinary midweek morning with the same structure as every other midweek morning, coffee and newspaper and the particular rhythm of a household functioning on schedule. I noticed it on a Wednesday because Wednesdays were when Scarlet usually called her sister, a standing call that happened every week without fail, and this Wednesday she didn’t make it. She sat across from me at breakfast with her phone face down and her coffee getting cold and a quality of interior focus that had nothing to do with the room she was sitting in. I said nothing.
