Serefina watched as students left the hall one by one. She sat on a nearby bench, closed her eyes and let out a sigh when everyone had gone. " So you're the Prince?", Serefina asked as she felt his presence in the hall. He was leaning on a pillar at the other end of the hall. " And you can finally talk to me!", he replied, moving over to her side. " What are you doing here anyway?", she asked while folding her arms. " Head mistress Bedelia asked me to wait behind" he replied. " Any sensible person will know that", he added. " Haha very funny prince" Serefina laughed sarcastically. " Are you a...", she was about to ask when the head mistress came in and called Aiden. " Sorry gotta go", Aiden said without looking back and followed the head mistress. After what felt like ages to Serefina, Aiden came back. " It's your turn", he said. " I know", she replied rudely. " I'll wait for you", he said, ignoring her rude response. " No need to", she replied almost immediately and made her way to the room where she was first assessed. She walked in and stood in front of the same set of people. " I assume you know why you are here" A woman with red hair, Miss Welter, asked. Once again, Serefina looked at each of them in the eye, " why wouldn't I?" she replied. " And I am very sure you know how much power you possess at your fingertips?" another man with green eyes and jet black hair, Mr Emo said. " Yes", Serefina replied shortly, " I'm aware that I am a pure flame fire bender" She continued, " and I also know that I can destroy this whole school with just a spark of my flame", she said, almost like a threat. Gasps were heard from the teachers at the table and Serefina had a wicked smirk on her face. " Now here's your locker number and your timetable, and please no burning of school properties", the Head mistress said while handing her a sheet of paper. " You may go now", she added. Serefina collected the paper and left the room. " I told you not to wait", she said as she noticed Aidan standing opposite the door. She picked up her school bag and began to walk away. " I know, I just did not want to walk to class alone", Aidan said while trying to catch up with Serefina's strides. She rolled her eyes at his response. They got to the front of the main building, Serefina stretched out her hand and immediately the large bronze double doors opened. She walked down the hallway not listening to what Aidan was saying throughout. " 356", she muttered to herself as she tried to find her locker. " Here it is", Aidan said pointing to the locker right beside his. She opened the locker with her fingerprint and began arranging her books. " Your locker is right beside mine", Aidan said, pointing out the obvious. " Unfortunately", she replied uninterested. Adriana walked over to them, " Hey prince Aidan ", she waved at him. "Just Aidan " he smiled at her warmly. Adriana nodded in response. " I see you're already fitting in ", she turned to Serefina who was busy arranging her books neatly into her locker. Serefina shrugged in response. Just then the bell rang and everyone in the hallway started moving into their various classes. " I guess I'll see you two later then ", Adriana turned and went for her class . " See you in class ", Aidan also walked away. Serefina sighed as she stared at her locker. It was too plain and she hated it. Her lips curved into a smirk as an idea came to her mind. She clicked her fingers and immediately her locker was beautifully decorated, Serefina style. Her locker was painted with dark shades of red and purple, just the way she liked it. Serefina closed her locker and went for her class. Serefina sat at the back of the class while Aidan sat directly in front of her. A man with dark hair and black eyes walked into the class. He introduced himself as their fire control teacher, he was going to be taking them the note aspect and a different teacher will take the practical aspect. He began writing on the board, the students took out their notes and also copied what he wrote on the board. Soon the bell rang and the students went out for the next class. Serefina sat on a bench outside admiring the vast area of green land where they were to have their practicals. Other fire benders were playing around with their powers. She wore a white T-shirt and red shorts with white sneakers to compliment her outfit. Her black hair was tied in a high ponytail. " Why are you so quiet? Afraid of being the worst fire bender in the school?" Alinta sneered and everyone laughed. " And what make you think you'll be the best huh?", Serefina said raising a brow. "Good day everyone, my apologies for being late. I am Miss Viviane, your practical fire control teacher", Viviane said, cutting their little argument short. She had lime green eyes and red hair, a significant gene in the lineage of noble fire benders. There were life size dummies and Viviane demonstrated how each student would burn down the dummies. She made a fire ball and threw it at a dummy, the students watched as it burned to ashes. "Okay, you and you why don't you try it now?", She said pointing to Alinta and Serefina. They both stepped forward. Alinta made two fire balls with both her hands and threw them at the dummies while Serefina stood lazily watching Alinta's show off. " The main thing is to focus on your powers", Viviane encouraged. Alinta had almost burned down her own dummies when Serefina clicked her fingers and all the dummies, including hers and Alinta's was in ashes. " Done", she said while blowing off imaginary smoke from her fingers. " What the...that's not fair! I was about to win! Show off!", Alinta pouted. " It wasn't a competition", the teacher corrected. " Still my dummy is meant to be burnt first" Alinta retorted angrily, " she just stood there like a log of wood, doing nothing! She cheated. She's...she is a witch!", Alinta declared and everyone gasped and turned their gaze to Serefina who wasn't bothered. " She's a witch!", Alinta yelled angrily, pointing at Serefina. Everyone started murmuring while Serefina rolled her eyes at the hateful comments. " She's NOT a witch!", said the Head mistress, Miss Bedelia. She had been called by Viviane when she couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation for the kind of power Serefina wielded. The whole area was silent as they waited for the headmistress explanation. " Then what is she?", An impatient student asked. " Mind your words Young sir", Miss Bedelia warned. " Serefina is a rare gem here" She continued, " She's a pure flame". " She's a what?!" , Alinta asked with a hint of jealousy. " A pure flame", the headmistress repeated, " meaning her line hasn't mated with any other element apart from fire. She is stronger than any of us here but don't discriminate or calk her names. We are all here to learn", the Head mistress concluded and walked away. Alinta scoffed, " Watch your back witch, I'm going to make your stay in this school a living nightmare ", She threatened. " Are you threatening me?", Serefina asked, giving her a long stare. Alinta looked into Serefina's golden eyes as they turned black like her hair and looked scary. Alinta felt shivers go down her spine, " I- I am t- threatening you so y-you better watch your b- back" Alinta managed to talk. " We'll see about that" Serefina chuckled. " So why is your flame purple?", Adriana asked for the millionth time. Serefina sat down and started eating her lunch. " Are you seriously going to keep ignoring me?", Adriana asked as she sat beside her. " I'm trying to eat here", she replied, Adriana rolled her eyes and began to eat. Alinta stared daggers at Serefina from the other side of the cafeteria. " Why are you so angry?", Candace asked. Candace was one of Alinta's best friends. She had blonde hair like Alinta's, deep blue eyes and a petite figure. " It's the pure flame girl, hashtag little miss powerful Serefina" Alinta replied with pure jealousy. " What's a pure flame?", Irving, Alinta's other best friend asked. Unlike Candace, she was tall and had brown long hair and hazel eyes. " I don't know, but I'm sure it means this Serefina girl is getting in my way", Alinta replied. " I want to be the best and most popular fire bender in this school", she continued banging her fists repeatedly on the table. " Chill girl, you're already the hottest", Irving said trying to calm her best friend down. " It's just not fair", Alinta pouted. Aidan walked into the cafeteria. He sighted Serefina and Adriana and walked over to their table, " Hi girls", he said. " Hi there, prince", Adriana replied. " Hey", Serefina muttered. " What's up with you?" Aidan asked Serefina. " She won't tell me why her flame is purple", Adriana replied while faking her annoyance. Aidan's eyes grew wide, " You're a pure flame?"
