Heretofore, Janice had felt that her status here was somehow temporary. That she would escape, or be freed, or something. In any case, she refused to believe that she was a permanent bond servant of the Budikan Corporation. But, when she awoke to hear the little chimes set to announce the turning on of the blue light, which meant that someone was coming for her and she should leave her cage, she knew that henceforth in her life, she would be subject to the whims of others, that she would have no rights, and that she would suffer an endless travail of abuse.
