Anna POV
After work we headed out to a local lounge to celebrate Emma’s going away party. It was just me, Emma, a few mutual friends of ours, and of course my security team blending into the background. We all had a good time laughing, talking, and vibing to the music. After a while I decided to go to the bathroom to freshen up. I gave my security team the signal so they knew where I was going. They don’t need to follow me but they make sure they are close by just in case. Once relieved, I went back to find my friends. They had all dispersed to the dance floor. I tried to spot Emma amongst the crowd. I was thinking of heading home because it was getting late and I had a training session in the morning. As I walked through the crowd I couldn’t find Emma and decided to see if she went outside for some air. As I went outside and walked towards the parking lot. Before I could turn the corner, I heard a voice that made my blood run cold. I’d know that voice anywhere, Beta Keegan. He is the Beta to Alpha Marcus, the Alpha who kidnapped me. I stood there trying to be as quiet as possible as my mind raced out of control and my heart was beating out of my chest. What was he doing here? Had they finally found me? I tried to remember all my training and listened to the conversation. “This kind of looks like her but different. Are you sure this is who I’m looking for” Beta Keegan said. “Yes. I’m 90% sure. She fits the description and the timeline. She’s definitely scared of something due to all the security measures she has”. That voice…I know that voice. Could it be? How could he betray my trust. Dominic is working for them? Just as I was willing myself to believe I was mistaken the guy continued “I have a training session with her in the morning. That’s when we can do the exaction” Okay yeah that’s definitely Dominic. Alpha Marcus and finally tracked me down and was planning on taking me back with him. Before I turned to run I heard Beta Keegan respond “I will text you instructions. You better be right or my boss will have your head”. That all I needed to hear as I ran into the club with tears streaming down my face. I needed to find Emma and my security team. I ended up running into Emma and almost knocked her down. “Geez Anna where’s the fire…..wait what’s wrong?” “I have to get out of here. I need to find my security. I need to leave the state tonight”. I croaked. Emma looked at me as I started to hyperventilate. She grabbed me and dragged me to the bathroom. When we got there it was empty thank goodness. Emma locked the door behind us and turned to me and said “Spill”. I told her about the conversation and how Dominic planned to betray me. I saw her eyes flicker from brown to gray and then back. Emma was paving back and forth during my story and when she stopped and looked at me I finally felt the Alpha Aura from her. “You’re coming back with me” Emma said. The thought of going back to another pack brought on a whole new wave of anxiety. “ No…‘Em…” I said between breaths. I would not bring my craziness and drama back to her pack. “That was not a question.” She said “You’re coming back and that’s final. Now here’s what we are going to do. We are going back to your place and packing a bag. You’ll email your clients that you had a sudden emergency and you’ll be unavailable for the next month. Then we’re flying back to my pack and we’ll figure it out from there”. I wanted to protest but I really didn’t have another plan. Maybe I’ll just stay there for a couple days until I figure things out then I’ll go settle somewhere else. “What about my security team?” I asked. Emma thought for a moment then said “We need to assume they are compromised. Do they usually stay with you all night?” “No, they stay with me until I return home and come back in the morning. Today is overtime for them” I said. “Good. We can sneak you out easier that way. Let’s get you cleaned up. We’ll tell everyone that you aren’t feeling well so I’m going to drive you home. We can’t take your car because they’ll notice it missing so we’ll catch an Uber to my place”. I just nodded in agreement praying this plan would work.
We made it back to my place and I was a little calmer. I had an emergency bag already packed with cash, my passport, and all other important documents that I would need. I grabbed some clothes and found my sun necklace that my parents gave me. I never wear it anymore but I always keep it with me. I walked out to my living room as Emma was hanging up the phone. “Ready?” She asked. I wasn’t ready. I love my apartment and my job. I was starting to build a life here and finally feeling settled. And now, now I have to go into the unknown again and try to rebuild. “I'm ready” I sighed. Emma outstretched her hand to me and I took it as we walked out the door and out to the Uber. I stared out the window lost in thought as we drove. Emma didn’t say anything to me, she just kept texting someone like crazy on her phone. When I came to, I noticed that we were pulling up to the airport and not Emma’s house. I turned to ask her what’s going on as we pulled directly up to a plane. As soon as we stopped Emma told me to get on the plane. The Uber driver was already out of the car grabbing my bags and loading them onto the plane. Okay now this is weird. Emma was chatting with the Uber driver when I entered the plane. I was shocked at how glamorous and spacious it looked on the inside. There were two rows of seats on either side of the aisle that were a cream color and looked so comfy. There were TVs up above them for passengers to enjoy. As I kept walking I came to a set of doors. The one to the right was a bedroom that was decorated in cream colors and soft wood tones. There was also an on suite inside the room with a very spacious shower. The room on the left was an office decorated in soft grays with a desk, computer monitors, a couch, and an office chair. The door straight back was another spacious bathroom. I stood there in awe because the details just screamed money. I was walking back to the seats as Emma and the Uber driver finally boarded the plane. My guess is this man is not actually an Uber driver and I was even more confused. Before I could say anything the flight attendant told us that the pilot was ready for takeoff and asked if we could take our seats. I took my seat with Emma sitting next to me and the not Uber driver sat next to her. As the plane lifted into the sky, my anxiety levels joined it.
