Anxiety on 10

1119 Words
Alpha Devin POV: I woke up extra early today. I couldn’t really sleep as my wolf felt restless all night. I’m pretty sure it’s because my Beta has been gone all week. He went to visit a pack that was looking to become an ally with us. We were looking to expand and gain more allies across the country. He said the meeting went well but my sister is coming back with him and bringing a friend. Emma was supposed to wait another couple days before she came home. Something bad must have happened for her to be in such a rush. The other thing is this friend of hers. Emma has never brought anyone home, no friends and no boyfriends. This whole situation makes me feel uneasy. Which is why I’m up at 3am. I decided to go for a run before I led the warrior training class. I, typically, don’t lead the classes anymore but since Jason has been gone I’ve been in charge again. I walked outside and breathed in that early morning air. I decided to run around the perimeter first then I’ll let my wolf out and run through the forest for a while. Once I reached the forest, I quickly got undressed and shifted into my wolf, Lee. Lee was a huge black wolf with green eyes. He was bigger than most wolves being an Alpha, and incredibly strong. Lee shook out his fur and began running through the forest. I just went ahead and let him fully take over. His anxiety levels were just as high as mine. Hopefully, once Jason and Emma are home, everything will return to normal. Lee ran for about 45 minutes before we needed to head back for the class. I trained the class hard today, hoping it’ll help me feel better; it did not. During the training I got a mindlink from Stephen letting me know he was heading to pick up Jason, Emma, and her friend. I told him to take two warriors with him just to be safe. Ever since the attack I’ve been hyper vigilant about everyone’s safety. I wouldn’t have sent Jason by himself but I really could spare more warriors for that length of time. Usually, his dad Larry (my dad’s Beta) would have gone but he fell ill right before the trip. I’m sure that’s why I’ve been off lately. I just wanted everyone to be safe. Once the class was over, I went to my room and took a quick shower. I’m sure everyone should be pulling up soon. Right as I was about to head down to the main floor I received a mindlink from Stephen that they were pulling up. He told me to meet him and Jason in my office ASAP. “That cannot be good,” Lee finally spoke up. He had been very quiet today. I was wondering what was wrong but figured my anxiety was just affecting him. “Yeah I know. Let’s head up and see what’s going on” I said. I reached my office and sat behind my desk. My office was decorated in a modern but minimal fashion. I had a nice white desk, a plush gray couch, two black chairs in front of my desk, and a black office chair. The only thing on the walls was a hand drawn picture of my wolf that Stephen drew. He was a really talented artist. A couple minutes went by, then Jason and Stephen walked in. “Alpha” they both greeted me. I told them that wasn’t necessary but they’ve been calling me that since we were kids. “Welcome back Steve. I’m sure you all didn’t rush up here to tell me about what happened during the pack visit; so what’s going on.” “Well…I do need to tell you about what happened at the pack visit but that can wait. I feel obligated to tell you about the friend that Emma brought home” Jason said. My face immediately hardened. I was suspicious about Emma bringing someone home. I was hoping mom didn’t put her up to bringing home someone for me to marry. She’s been on my back about taking a chosen mate for two years now. I told her I’d never do that but she was getting restless. She wanted to retire from her Luna duties. “Devin…” Jason pulled me from my thoughts. “Yeah sorry, please continue. What mess has my sister caused this time” I said. “Well firstly, her friend is a human. Secondly, she’s on the run from some crazed Alpha. That’s why they rushed back here” Jason finished. My eyes flickered green for a moment. Emma knows the rules. We do not bring humans here without my and my parents' permission. Then to add to that, this girl is on the run from an Alpha. So she’s bringing my danger to the pack. I was fuming! I pushed back from the desk and mumbled a thanks to Jason as I stormed out of my office. I went down one floor to where my sister and parents stay. I heard Jason and Steve following me. I’m sure they intend to try and calm me down. As soon as I reached her room, Emma stepped into the hall. “What the hell were you thinking?” I growled. Emma grabbed my arm and pulled me down the hall to my dad’s office and slammed the door. “First of all,” she started, “lower your voice when you’re talking to me. You know that Alpha voice doesn't work on me. Secondly, I was going to tell you! It was a lot happening at once and I knew that you wouldn’t have let Anna come if I told you everything before we got here” Emma said. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to calm myself. “Okay Em. You got her here, what’s the full story?” I asked. “Well the full story, that I don’t know. All I know is I had to get Anna out of there quickly because that crazy Alpha tracked her down again. And before you start, mom said yes” she finished looking smug. I knew she had help with this. I mindlinked my mother to come here right now. I started pacing to try and contain myself but I just couldn’t. I began yelling at Emma about how irresponsible she is being. This of course brews into another one of our screaming matches. When I heard the door open, I went to turn my fury onto mom; but instead I lost the will to speak.
