Chapter 10

805 Words
Travis looked at Jane. "She was right. Is that enough or I should say more?" "Are you not ashamed of yourself?" Jane asked, looking around to make sure people were hearing. When her eyes met people's, she laughed and, as if it was contagious, the people laughed too. "I've never met a brainless, poor man like you. Think of this, you got an admission from the university. You can't afford its fees and still have the gut to accept it and later drop out after wasting money. "You didn't learn your lesson. You continue to repeat the same foolishness. Instead of you to buy seven used clothes for 5 dollars at a local shop, you come where your salary can't afford to buy a singlet." Travis let out a heavy sigh. "Must you compare my past to my present?" "Your past is even better than your present. You look good back then when other students often give you their leftovers food." A rich man stepped in and smiled as every eye was on him. Jane and the other saleslady left Travis to attend to the rich man. "You are welcome to En Vogue boutique," the saleslady said. "Please come over here," Jane said and took him into the high-class room while Travis felt ashamed and impatient as people were laughing at his shoes. "Tell me my account balance, grand system," he thought. [Your Account Balance: $766,000] Travis took out his phone to call CEO Douglass, who answered it on the first ring. "Hello," Travis said "Hey!" CEO Douglass said. Travis could hear the ecstasy in his voice. "Do you know the owner of En Vogue boutique?" "Yes. What happened?" "Their saleslady humiliated me and left me to attend to another customer. And they won't allow me to enter the room for high-class men." "What the f**k! I'm coming right away." "No, don't bother. Just informed the owner." "If that is what you want, I will talk sense into him. Just give me a minute." Jane came out of the door and gestured to Travis to look at her. "Do you want to work? Our noble customer needs someone to carry a bag into his car. Hope you are excited to hear that?" Travis looked away as he whistled. "Don't think your plan can work." She raised her finger. "Cameras were watching you. So go out now because you will get caught if you take a thread." Travis didn't react to Jane's loud voice. "Don't you hear? I would call the security now." Manager Brock rushed down the stairs and swiftly picked up his fallen phone before looking at Jane. "Why don't you attend to CEO Douglass's business partner? Do you want me to lose my job?" Jane trembled but was relieved when she remembered the other saleslady was already attending to the special customer in the high-class room. "We are already attending to him." Manager Brock looked at Travis with disgust. "You're talking to a beggar and you are telling me you are already attending to CEO Douglass's business partner." "Sir. I want to chase him away, but he won't." "Look at me. I must not meet you here," Manager Brock said to Travis and hurried into the high-class room. Travis walked out slowly and called CEO Douglass. "I told you to call the owner. Why did you call the manager? Now he had sent me out as if I am a dog." "What! A minute please," Douglass hung up the call. After standing alone outside for five minutes, Manager Brock rushed out with Jane and the other sales ladies. He pointed to Travis's car. "Who drove that car here?" "We don't know," Jane said. "I'm about to lose my job. Why don't you know?" He cleaned his sweating neck with his handkerchief. "The only person I guess can drive it was the customer am attending to," the other saleslady said. "Need to check the surveillance cameras before CEO Jeffery reaches here. Get out of the way. If I lose my job, there's no hope for you all." All of them rushed in and Travis folded his arms as he was looking at the other customers looking out to find the special person. Inside the boutique, Manager Brock has no time to wipe off his sweat before the laptop. He pushed the security away because he was operating the laptop slowly to his liking. "Get lost!" They all watched the brand new car moving slowly to their company. When the car stopped and its door was opened, they focused on the screen as if they were trying to catch a ghost. Jane raised her eyebrows, and her heart shivered. "No, no, no. It can't be." She was tapping her head to reset itself because she thought her brain was malfunctioning due to being under stress.
