Malakai's POV
I moved speedily, a blur of motion, my aim razor-sharp as I shot the rope holding Adira to the pole. I caught her just before she could drop into the fire, a groan escaping me as the bullet meant for her grazed my back. It didn’t stop me.
I sprinted with her in my arms, careful of her face and the burnt arm that wasn’t healing, the silver chain the i***t had bound her with was the cause. Silver was lethal to wolves.
"You're shot," she murmured weakly.
"And you're dying. I need a safe place to drop you and get this damn chain off."
