Chapter 104: finally ready
Malakai’s POV
The room stiffened the moment I entered. Fear sat thick in the air, sour enough to taste. Four moonstone soldiers—the ones Logan caught attacking the border while I was gone—hung upside down from chains fixed somewhere in the ceiling.
I still hadn’t decided what to do with the ones who surrendered. I was skeptical about adding a single one of them to my army. Even if they swore loyalty with their blood, I’d never trust them.
These idiots were the reason Manuel was dead. My mind turned, searching for the best way to send them to their creator. I almost went to Manfred’s cell to torture him while I figured it out, but changed my mind. I didn’t want him making contact with anyone yet.
A sudden thrash snapped my focus to the left side of the room.
