Fear filled Camilla’s eyes the moment I suggested we try taking off the suppressant.
She shook her head and hid her hand behind her. “What if I hurt you?”
“I don’t think you will."
“You’re not sure. I don’t want to risk it.”
A small smile pulled at my lips.
“Did I say something funny?” she asked, eyes narrowing.
“It just feels really good to have such a beautiful damsel worry about me,” I teased.
Her lips quivered, trying to hold back a smile of her own. “I thought we were being serious,” she said with a pout.
I let my smile ease. “I was just trying to put you at ease, lovely. I know how scary this is for you, but we have to try. And if you do hurt me... it’ll be worth it.”
