Chapter Five I felt him move and it caught my attention. I guess that it was the fact that I wasn’t used to sharing a bed with anyone, but he shifted out my embrace, his arm slipping out from under me. I feigned sleep. The morning after conversation wasn’t exactly something that I relished, so I let him walk out the door. Afterwards I rose and pulled the robe over my naked body. I hugged myself and walked to the window, wondering what I was going to do. This was the second time that I had slept with the man who was hiring me to carry his baby and that night he whispered in his sleep.
