The interrogation room was a stark, sterile space, its walls a dull gray and its lighting harsh and unforgiving. Luna sat at the small table, her eyes fixed on Ace, who sat across from her with his hands cuffed to the metal ring embedded in the table. The room was silent except for the faint hum of the overhead lights.
Ace's demeanor was unchanged. He lounged in his chair with a casual air, as if he were a guest rather than a prisoner. His dark eyes gleamed with a mix of amusement and calculation, studying Luna as if she were a puzzle to be solved.
“You seem very confident for a man in your position,” Luna said, her voice steady but tinged with steel. “You’re caught, Ace. It’s over.”
Ace leaned forward slightly, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. “You don’t get it, do you? Catching me is just the first move. The game is far from over.”
Luna’s eyes narrowed. “What’s your endgame, Ace? What are you planning?”
Ace chuckled, a low, sinister sound. “You’ll find out soon enough. But let’s just say, Valeria is going to change. Drastically.”
Luna’s jaw tightened. She knew she needed to keep him talking, to extract as much information as possible. But Ace was a master manipulator, and he would relish any attempt to engage him in a battle of wits.
“Why now?” she asked, shifting her strategy. “Why set this trap tonight? What are you trying to prove?”
Ace’s expression grew serious, his eyes cold and calculating. “You and your department have been a thorn in my side for too long. It’s time to remind this city who really holds the power. Tonight was just a demonstration, a preview of what’s to come.”
Luna felt a chill run down her spine. Ace’s words were laced with menace, a promise of violence and upheaval. She needed to find a way to turn the tables, to use his arrogance against him.
“You’re going to spend the rest of your life in prison,” she said, her voice firm. “And your empire will crumble without you. Your men will scatter, and Valeria will move on.”
Ace’s eyes flashed with anger, but he quickly regained his composure. “You’re naive if you think locking me up will stop anything. I have loyal followers, people who are more than capable of carrying out my plans. And they’re already in motion.”
Luna leaned forward, her gaze intense. “Then tell me, Ace. What’s the plan? What’s your next move?”
For a moment, Ace seemed to consider her question. But then he shook his head, a sly smile on his lips. “Nice try, Detective. But you’re not getting anything out of me. Not yet.”
Luna suppressed a sigh of frustration. She knew this was going to be a long, difficult battle. But she wasn’t about to give up. She would find a way to break him, to uncover the truth and stop whatever he had planned.
“Enjoy your cell, Ace,” she said, standing up and gathering her papers. “We’ll be seeing a lot of each other. And eventually, you’ll talk.”
Ace’s smile widened as she left the room, his eyes gleaming with dark amusement. “We’ll see, Detective. We’ll see.”
