Sneaking out of the penthouse under a vampire’s nose was infinitely easier when the vampire was nowhere to be seen. Jesse noticed Gideon’s shoes and jacket were near the door, so he was fairly certain Gideon had returned home, but he hadn’t come to bed. And he wasn’t in the guest bedroom. Jesse assumed he was in the dungeon, but he didn’t want to risk looking and waking him up.
Jesse had gone to bed the night before with every intention of going to the forbidden party, but by the time they were dressed and ready to leave, the party seemed pretty insignificant.
