Jesse normally didn’t mind Emma reading every emotion passing through him, but now he was thankful she kept her walls up any time they went into an unknown environment. The conversation had made him angry, but more than that, he was hurt. He knew Gideon wanted to leave the past in the past, and Jesse accepted that. But Gideon was not leaving the past in the past anymore.
Gideon clearly thought Jesse was asking for too much, but Jesse disagreed. He tried so hard to respect Gideon’s boundaries. He denied his innate curiosity. He put aside his questions. And at this point in their relationship, he knew exactly what questions needed to be left unvoiced. But that didn’t mean Jesse understood. Because he didn’t understand why Gideon tried so hard to keep him locked out.
