Chapter 5 Jesse didn’t know where Emma found all her energy. Gideon had kept them both up most of the night, and Emma had left ridiculously early that morning, prying herself from Jesse’s arms. He hadn’t been pleased to let her go. By the time they met for lunch, Jesse had only been up for an hour and still felt groggy. Emma was damned near trembling with energy, her eyes bright, her smile wide, as she narrated everything she’d seen while he had been sleeping. Jesse decided to blame Gideon for his lethargy. Not only did Gideon keep him up most of the night, Jesse wasn’t accustomed to being out and about during the day.
