Chapter 7 Jesse shifted his weight as the floor warmed beneath his feet. It wasn’t hot enough to hurt him, but he was getting a bit uncomfortable. Though he shifted from foot to foot, he tried to keep his head level and unmoving. Otherwise, the delicate skin at his throat would scrape against the spikes in his collar, and fresh blood would run down his chest. He didn’t mind when that happened so much, but since he had no way of knowing when Gideon would be returning, he wanted to cut down on the amount of blood drying on his skin. It made him itch.
